So I met this girl in WoW right, and yes before you comment on that, she IS a girl.

We met each other around oooh September last year, started having this online relationship of sorts around October. Strangely enough this all began shortly after I broke up with my 'real' girlfriend, or rather she dumped my pathetic ass.

Anyway it wasn't until a month or so after this relationship started I discovered she was only 15, me being 20 at the time(and still am). Would have been a good time to call it off and go our seperate ways but no we desided not to. Stupidity right?
Damn right, but then love fucks you up like that.

Shes 16 now and we're still 'together'.

Now of course all this time we've been wondering when/how we're gonna meet.
I'm living in Australia at the moment, she lives just outside California.
I'm planning on going over there for a week next year to finally meet her sometime between May - June. She'll be 17 by then.

Now i'm well aware of the laws, 18 and above, not allowed to be with anyone below 18 legally. Life sucks.

Despite that i'm still planning on going through with this, gonna meet her parents and everything.

Am I a moron doomed to jail time and heartache or is meeting the person you think your suppose to be with for the rest of your life worth risking it all for?

Here's my intellectual advice:

Well, if you really "love" her, then it shouldn't be too much of an issue to have patience and wait 3 years before having your carnal indulgence.

I find it amusing that you automatically consider "heartache" = to being blue-balled. Especially since you're already spouting stuff like "the rest of my life", etc and so forth.

If you're truly soul-mates, then your emotional bond with her should far transcend anything sexual, and thus that relatively minor aspect of your relationship shouldn't have any trouble being de-prioritized, at least for the time being.


Here's my practical advice:

But of course, if you're really just in it for the lust and simply haven't realized it yet, then that makes everything different.

Definitely something to think about. Think about real hard.

And, for the sake of discussion, if you should determine that the substance of your attraction to her is mostly just lust, then you should act accordingly based on however your own moral compass guides you.

Just don't suffer any delusion while you do so.


Here's my moral advice:

Regardless of how confident you are in the clarity of your own emotional awareness of yourself, you still can't change the fact that she's just 16, and thus you must consider that in all likelihood, she's probably not emotionally mature enough yet for you to be able to objectively trust that her feelings for you are as authentic as you believe yours are for her. This is part of the point behind age of consent laws, and it's definitely a valid one.

So if you really care about her, you should care about her enough to wait.

Well, I specifically made sure to include the qualifier "relatively" in the statement for a reason.

That is, "relatively minor" in importance to other, more crucial aspects that are necessary for a successful, long-term relationship that doesn't, in reality, consist of only glorified lust... and thus a relationship that doesn't just burn out once the excitement and euphoria of the initial sexual discovery fades.

You're wrong, because "Fox News Logic" is a paradox and therefore cannot be applied to anything.

But on a more serious note, a friend of mine is going through the same thing right now. Fortunately for him the girl is of legal age. However, bear in mind that it's really easy to act like a completely different person over the internet, or at least to come across that way. I know a lot of people who act one way in reality and then when they are online, whether it be intentional or accidental, wind up acting a completely different way.

What I'm trying to say is that while the girl you are interacting with over WoW may be everything you've ever dreamed of, until you've met her in reality and been around her for quite some time you honestly can't tell whether or not you're in love. And while the plan you have created would indeed solve this issue, I believe that you should take into consideration the cost of traveling to the United States and the possible legal ramifications of such an action if she is still under 18.

In the end, though, it's your life and it's entirely up to you; I'm not here to judge. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. :)
