What console to get???

I know this has been said over and over again, but what console should I get. I haven't had one for about 4 years now. I want to play all those cheesy anime style RPGs that they don't have on the PC. I am leaning towards the PS2, but I'm still not sure. Or should I not bother with it at all? Are there other games that are just too cool to pass up?

I was thinking about it because a lot of sites are talking about a price drop after e3.

If you want cheesy anime rpgs you want ps2. The Japanese hate X-box with the burning passion of a thousand suns. The only other choice would be gamecube, which will have a FF game on it soon.

If by "doing well" you mean "Barely even surviving" you are correct. I think a little thing called "The Internet" has a whole lot more people playing games online. :D Give me the XBL numbers compared to PS2L numbers and I'll believe ya.

One thing I like about XBL is that, although you can only play with 10 other people (including creamy parmesean over here) everyone has a headset, and everyone makes an ass of themselves. I mean, everyone uses it to a certain extent. Most games of SOCOM i've played, people tend to be psycic, sending thoughts to each other and only talking when they must. It works though.

lol. I bet clans use the Headset for SOCOM all the time. IMO voice chat is both good and bad. It can be used in team games to make plans, tell other people you've spotted an enemy, etc. But, there is always the inmature dumb asses that do nothing but insult, cuss, and just plain act like an asshole.


Bottom line, voice chat is the best and worst thing to happen to online games.

Well dude, you've waited what...4 years. So here's my reasoning. PS2 is all nice with all the gameplay and years behind the franchise. And then of course there is the xbox. Forget the Gamecube for now, its a great console but I don't think it lines up to make much of a fight in coming years and it looks like a purple lunchbox [no offense there gc lovers]

PS2 vs Xbox = Goliath vs David

Goliath(ps2) with all his armor and height and weight will crush and stomp about for a while and really he should win but there's David(xbox) who's new, small and inexperienced. So what??! David comes on the field with only a few games and a couple of tricks up his sleeve (such as forcing xbox exclusives). Goliath has his kick-ass sword and a huge army of games backing him up but ahh the flaw...

David knocks him down in one shot. Why? God is backing him up and in this case Microsoft is pretty much god. David becomes king and everyone loves him.

My point is xbox is gonna roll out on top and ps2 isn't worth the cash and I mean $149 for an xbox?!$@ The really good games are already coming out and will blow up with XBL. The real battle I think is going to be PS3 and whatever the successor of xbox is. What is it anyway?

Yeah, that's pretty much true. But, on the other hand, Sony technically has it's fingers in more pies than microsoft. But, if the console world isn't profitable for them, they will drop out (or join up with microsoft/nintendo). Sony is fond of making money. Microsoft is fond of monopolization/world domination.

(IE:Internet Explorer vs. Netscape, they gave it away for free when it would have done perfectly fine as a retail product priced $10 cheaper than netscape navigator; they actually killed people to take over the OS world; in the future MS brand nano-probes will only work properly if you eat MS brand food stuffs, eating regular food WILL kill you; MS brand food stuffs and MS brand nanoprobes will only be available to MS employees.)

Thanks for the replies guys. I havent really decided what I want to get or if I will even get it. I have just been on an Anime binge for the last few weeks and I wanted to play some of those "Anime" type games that I used to play. Also woot 100th post!!

I already got PS2 and X Box so now im just waiting for PS3 comming out next year and then the X Box, I just dont knw when that is comming out.

get a x-box man it has a save feature unlike ps2 the cds dont mess up as easy and you can only play halo (a dam cool game) on x box

i thought ps3 is coming out in 2004? I think X box is 2005 but it might be the same here as the ps3.
