It's all too expensive for me anyways, sorta glad someone finally won though. Time for a cheap Blu-ray player. PS3 doesn't count.

Wether there may be more potential in blu-ray technology, I think it's lame to make a whole different disk format that requires a differnt player for it. Not to mention blu-ray sounds a bit faggy. Blue ray, being spelled correctly, wouldn't look bad.

Only copyrighted media is protected though right? I assume there's ways to get around it, but make sure no cops are watching or you'll be sued for an unrealistic sum of money.

I can see the advantage when it comes to portability, but i don't think its worth buying a whole different drive.

Blu ray recordable = .75 - .80 per GB. ($15 on sale - $20 for a 25 GB disc)
Portable hard drives(usb powered, super small) = .50 - .75 per GB.
As a media right now, Blu ray is way too expensive. I would much rather get a 160 gig hard drive that is just as portable as a disc and has much more capacity.

My DVD player must be ultra sensitive to any imperfections on the disk surface, because if there is the slightest blemish on the disk, everything goes ape shit.
