Yes, and it's arguably better than Hellgate. It's like a feel-good Diablo MMO.

They have some kind of micro transaction model they're going to put in place, and if the game gets popular enough it'll see reasonable profits through that.

But yeah, none of the stuff for purchase is required to play the game, and I don't think the system is even up, yet.
