Damn thing is sweet.. and also a system hog.. btw how do u run it in fullscreen mode.. and whats the doorlock code for level 2.. and also wtf.. why doesnt he have a flash light or something.. anyways.. sweet game but the engine needs optimization big time and coming from quake 3.. i can say that this game sure will be able to run sweet when it arrives.. with 4x aa and 8x af the game runs at around 34-40 fps with serious lows.. i am talking 2-3 fps during sound loads.. i think its my ram coz while playing it i was getting msgs as low on virtual memory.. going to shutdown.. damn engine is screwed up.. etc etc.. anyways awesome atmosphere in the game.. second to undying i must say..

abt file sharing.. i never use it too.. i bought the damn cd as it is on sale here.. lol.. thank you LORD for piracy.. haha..

Running Doom 3 for the first time:

1. Delete the DoomConfig.cfg (don't worry the game builds a new one)
2. Run Doom.exe
3. Wait for the video
4. Hit the ~ (tilde) key to access the console, then type:
* map e3/intro - The Intro
* map e3/e3_1 - 1st map
* map e3/e3_2 - 2nd map
* map e3/e3_3 - 3rd map

Doom 3 Game performance tips:

* For a supposedly better Doom 3 speed, replace your DoomConfig.cfg with THIS one (in doom_iii\base\ folder)
* To Make Fred\e3bathroom5 work download THIS and unzip it into the doom_iii\base\maps\fred\ folder
* To Make The Single Player Menu Work Do This Steps:
1. Backup doom3.exe
2. Make doom3.exe Readable (uncheck read-only in properties)
3. Open doom3.exe with a hex editor
4. Find:
6A6F686E632F746573745F626967626F780000007374617274 47616D
and change to:
65332F65335F31000000000000000000000000007374617274 47616D
5. Save the file and play!

* God - god mode
* NoTarget - No Target which doesn't seem to work

* For third person type pm_thirdperson 1 in console

FLASHLIGHT

You can get a much better flashlight by editing the DoomConfig.cfg. Use
this instead of flashlight3.tga which, BTW, does not even exist:

Then use console and type "flashlight". What you get is some very
impressive lightning effects.

You can also edit the flashlight lag like this to make it more "precise":

seta g_flashlight_lag "1.0"

It's recommended to bind flasghlight to a key:

You have 256Megs of RAM? Doesn't DOOM III swap and slow the game down? I heard that sometimes is uses up to a gig of memory.

I'm not very excited about DOOM III, but i think it will be pretty good. You can't base your opinions on the alpha leak. I mean, the sound is uncompressed, so it takes up tons of memory and the textures and everything else is uncompressed. The code is still VERY unoptimized, hence the "Apha" in the name, its not even beta. And even though you have a good video card, you said you were running with AA & AF enabled, and you were probably running at 800x600 or higher. What the fuck do you expect? DOOM III was designed to push every system to its limits, and that means you're not going to get 100FPS all the time (It probably won't go that high unless you are staring at a wall).

It's a miracle this game runs on anyone's PC at all in the alpha stage. I recall how well HL ran when someone pirated the press beta, and that wasn't good at all. If you get 40fps with a 9700 in the alpha stage, that should mean you'll get 200,000fps with the final. (yes, i'm exaggerating)

Man, just download it! I did on my 56k. Three nights in a row!!! Worth it too. It runs well on my system and the one on kazaa is the right one. There's also a fix if you look up "doom3 alpha" this fix helps errors in level entries. Oh, I had troubles with the 40.XX drivers for my gf4. Anyone else have same issues? Worked fine with the 30.82 drivers. If you're on kazaa and find it, search for gofakilla@kazaa and i'll let you dl it if you im me!!!:D
