View Full Version : It's so hard for me to find an apartment

As some of you might have known, I'm a student again.... that means i have no income but government loans. As the result, no one is willing to lease me an apartment.
Most students here in San Francisco have their parents to cosign for them. Since my parents aren't in US, they can;t cosign for me, so I'm really stuck!
Most of the rental office ask 6 months (some 12 months) rent in the bank account if that's the case. I don't have that kind of money!
Boo hoo! I guess I should just go live in a shabby hut somewhere in the bad neighborhood. :(

Well, don't do that. (And try not to cry, either.) ;)
What are your living accommodations at present? If I may ask?
I remember what a gigantic pain in the posterior it was to find a decent place to live while going to school. The only way it worked financially was to find three other girls to share the expenses.
Maybe you should try and find three girls who are also looking for a place?
I'm not helping, I know, Yian. I wish I had some brilliant idea on how to find a good place to stay without having any money to spare. The root of this problem is, at least in part, the outrageous cost of tuition at most schools. It's obscene what some of these schools charge for a year of "education."

Put up posters at school (looking for roomate or appartment), look outside the city, talk to volunteer centres that deal with students, talk to the student union if you havn't done it already. If so, do it again..
Just be naggy, it helps.
Tho just to mention it, this wouldn't happen in my socialdemocratic country, haha

Hey guys, I found a place to live and it isn't bad! It's at the lower Nob Hill. Thank you for caring and I'm glad it worked out!
Now I need to go find some furnitures.
And Rhenna, yeah, I tried to find some roomates but in the end they all bailed out. But they were going through a lot of crap, too, so I don't blame them.
