I'm pretty interested in reviving the often thought of but never executed plan of a forumer meet up.

I mean, how hard would it be to co-ordinate a weekend everyone can plan to take off and meet up at a campground or something for two days and rock it out with hotdogs (now I know DL will be down) and some brews. Alot of of seem to be out here on the West coast, and I'm sure a few more of us would be willing to do some driving or train riding out here. Hell, we could even car pool if we pass through cities other forumers live in.

I want any interested parties to list their locations and let's kind of get a time frame worked up, if we can come up with at least 10 or so of us I think it would be a blasty blast of epic proportions.

I'm thiking we need to plan it for at least a couple months out and make god damn sure people would be willing to commit to going.

Commence the plannening.

I live in Albuquerque, NM. Anything within a two state stretch isn't bad for me, beyond that though it becomes more of a task. Anytime works for me, school starts in late August though and after that might be pretty tough. Good idea though, I know we've talked about this in the past (I even had a dream once that Future Man drove from AZ -> NM. That was like 3 years ago, and sorta gay if you think about it).

One of the other online communities I am a part of does this at least once or twice a year. We all meet up at a beach, or cabin or something people can all chip into.

Pretty much what you need is

a set place
A set date
a set price
a Fluxuated price in case a few people don't show up.

a date set that people have to say yes or no by.
A date that people have to have their $ either chiped in by if required(usualy around the same yes/no date)

If $ being chipped in is required and a person backs out generaly they wont get a full refund so that it doesn't hurt the others that showed up as much. This one doesnt matter as much if there are a lot of people in volved but becomes more importaint as the # goes down.

a list of the people interested, maybe, need ride, willing to give ride, willing to split plane, bus, train ticket price ect.

Most of that stuff assumes that the group will head somewhere and all pitch in $ to sleep and do whatever it is that the masses want to do.

I'm thinking a camping trip, I can supply extra tents, cots, mats and sleeping bags, the whole shebang. It oughtsta be the most cost effective method, Cloudcroft NM is fucking awesome as well.

Anyone has different ideas start pitching them. Let's try to keep the cost down since gas is going to rape everyone fairly thoroughly.

Camping usually works really well.

The campsite fee is usually low to nill so people just have to spend $ on gas, booze and food (in that order)

I've done two weeks on the Appalachian Trail and two weeks in the Chirikawa mountains here. We got to a place with showers on the AT on day 6 and I think I declined to take one and just stewed in my own juice of awesome the rest of the trip.

Showers in nature are just the opportune time to be eaten by something that doesn't want to bother digesting your clothes.

I shower twice a day and that keeps me relatively clean of the nuisance, but if I miss a day I immediately get tons of shit.

Never been to a Comiccon or PAX, always looked cool though. Looks like Comiccon is in about a months time, which might be pushing it. Blizzcon is sold out too, not to mention to $100 ticket price.
