Well software etc. used to be the same way but they changed their policy where you can actually get a refund sometimes (if the moon is aligned with uranus just perfectly, and your dogs name, who has a horrible case of breast cancer, is Spot, then you might get your fucking money back)

Yeah, they've been doing that for years. I remember way back when Red Alert was out, I bought the big RA/Counterstrike/Whatever the hell the other expansion was, and was going to split it with my friend, but he didn't chip in, and I didn't want to buy RA twice, so I tried to return it for my money... of course, they didn't, so I ended up getting Lord of the Realm II, which wasn't really worth my money. But, I guess I can kinda see the logic, especially now. If I could turn back in games for money, I could go buy Mafia like I've been wanting to, burn it, and trade it back in. In the case of unopened games, though, my guess is that somewhere there was some really good con artist who opened the box well enough that they fooled the staff at the store. So, after that, they've cracked down. Lame ass policy all the same, though.

Well< i do prate all my games but this isnt exactly piratable, its Planetside, and a subscription card.

Yeah, as much fun as getting a, erm, discount on the game might be, sometimes I like to go get it, once the price has fallen a bit. Like Silent Hunter II... Who knows, but I like it. Anyway, the dl'ed version I had just wasn't cutting it, so I got the game. And sometimes, with the games I really love--Grim Fandango and Morrowind come most readily to mind--I like to think of it as encouragement to the game makers. But, for something I couldn't really care less about, or am only going to play for like a day, then I don't see the point of paying like $50 for Tony Hawk 3... I guess maybe that's an issue they should be looking at in the gaming industry.

Or just make better games that last longer. :)

Here's what you do, you buy the game, open the box insanely carefully as to not break any of those fucking stickers or anything, pull out the CD, burn said CD, stick CD back in box, return it to store for full credit, lather, rinse and repeat.

i can understand why they cant give refunds but at time they are real bastards i bought a DVD that kept on skiping and when i went to get a replacement they said it was a problem with my system......WTF... my system works fine with every other DVD iv gotten and there trying to tell me its my system.
oh and the staff wouldnt sell me a Movie because he thought i was under 15......Im gonna have to start carrying a copy of my birth Certificate. fuck these places what is being a bastard Trained into them!!

Yeah, I don't know if you can really fault EB for the ID thing. THey're just covering their asses. A lot of people are just waiting to catch companies like them selling rated R movies to kids so they make a big deal and get more publicity for the "Tipper Gore and Joe Lieberman 'Take America Back to Puritanism' Campaign."

Now, if you showed ID and they didn't believe you then, that's a problem. Otherwise, it's not a problem with them, it's a problem with the government.

Well, you could always get a different ID, or grow a beard. Doesn't help much if you're a girl, but if you're a boy (or Freida Kahlo, of course) then it usually makes a person look older. If you're that excited about looking older, of course.
