Something a little less misogynistic in replying to her first few posts might not be a bad idea... Just a thought.

Is that a pen in his hair?

Actually, it's the blade of a knife, (perhaps a Microtech Makora), on the 2nd downward thrust. The first clearly penetrated the skull through the parietal bone and struck the left trigeminal nerve cluster, which, among other things, controls facial expression. This would account for the victim's appearance. The lack of blood and brain residue on the blade can be attributed to it's incredibly sharp edge, as well as this material being wiped clear as the knife was drawn upward, and then down again, through the sombrero. The assailant obviously didn't account for the reflexive reaction to the first wound, thus causing the second thrust to miss. I would expect he, or she, would follow with an upward, forearm sweep, beneath the hat, in an attempt to reach the medulla oblongata. While the resulting hemmoraging would be considerable, if successful, this would be the medical equivalent of a walkoff homerun in baseball, and a spectacular ¡adios muchacho! for the victim. At least, that's what I would do, given the circumstances.

This forum can't last if we never accept new members. Old members might be people we like but eventually people will have to move onto bigger and more important things in life; I myself has become less and less involved here for that reason.

A good way to have new members is answering questions for the noob. Most of them will probably never come back but some of them might, and once they join they might bring friends.

Other than religion and, perhaps, politics, I very often find myself agreeing with Yian. And, this would be one of those times.

If someone acts like a complete tool upon their arrival, the natural reaction is to light 'em up. (Anyone else recall ibanez7?) And, just to be clear, I can't argue with that response. It's self-defense.

If, however, the noobs are just trying to more or less ease into the general population, and they still catch six different kinds of hell for no apparent reason? Well, OK, then it seems we shouldn't ever bring up the matter of how stale, quiet, boring, dull, etc., this place often seems to be. Afterall, if one deliberately decides to go outside and stand in the rain, then you don't get to bitch about getting wet.

You guys do what you want to, but when just a single member *might* drive away some harmless rookie simply for 30 seconds of giggles, then that same single member has, in a very real sense, decided the matter for every other member. Seems like running someone outta town should be a judgement reserved solely for the moderators.

I like talking about computer games. That doesn't happen for shit here anymore, sadly. Luckily most of the dudes who are from this place and also dig being awesome hang out in the Vent channel, where we play such cutting edge games as R6: Raven Shield.

There's so many other forums I'd rather read over than the diet 4Chan this place seems to have become.

edit: Also, cocks.

How did we drive WGARA away? I miss that dude.

And yeah, we don't really talk about shit much on here. Honestly, I've kind of grown away from having conversations on forums as it is. I just like to browse them. I don't really feel I communicate very well when I have time to think through my shit and make it especially coherent; somewhere in there it ends up more douchebaggy and lame, so yeah, eh. Vent is fun, though. And AIM is still pretty serviceable.

Maybe we should just update this into some kind of real-time forum? Basically a chat room that logs everything.

Edit: Nevermind, hah.

IRC is not a forum replacement.

You have to idle there to get the logging effect, and it offers no conversation threading.

Having an IRC client open in the background totally rapes system resources. Computer's these days just can't handle that kind of constant system strain. It's fucking insane.

IRC chat rooms do not log themselves. You were already wrong on your first point.

New users will not find an IRC chat, let alone stay if they can't even view the history of our posts.

The vent is cool, only I don't actually spend that much time online these days, so I don't feel like I have time to log on.

As for the older members who've up and left, I've got a theory. When you're a college student, or just in your early twenties generally, you tend to spend much more time online (in a dorm, in parent's basement, what have you). When you leave college, get a job, a wife, kids, all the shit that constitutes "real" life, you don't have as much time for this sort of place. Frankly, as much as I enjoy this bit of the internet, I find myself falling into that pattern. Life gets in the way.
