We have a new idiot amongst us, and I think we should ban them. First to ten wins!

I do not know who this person is, but who am I to say no to a banning?

Are there even 10 of us to vote? I voted yes.

Rather than guess, may I ask what offense he/she/it committed for it to come to this?
(Jeez, while I must admit that third voting option is lookin' mighty tempting, I'm surprised there isn't a way to vote, "Present.")

voted yes because capital punishment of a random nature makes for good entertainment.

So, Ladycort is toast?
Somewhat related, I'm beginning to believe that if we simply purged the ranks of everyone who has a user name ending in 2 to 4 digits, we'd catch something like 90% of the interlopers. Seems like those accounts and links/URLs in posts go hand-in-hand.
As an example, does anyone else find this snapshot a bit unusual? I mean, what are the odds of this many "numerologists" cruising through simultaneously? It *isn't* an infrequent event.

It's not uncommon at all, but finding and banning potential spammers is a lot more time intensive than just cleaning up after them and then banning them. I resolved not to profile.

You make a good point.
I suppose I had envisioned a culling process that would have been a bit more sophisticated, and employed a bit more active human involvement, than, say, simply running a batch file operation. I certainly was being at least semi-hyperbolic. Such behaviour is so unlike me.
...I resolved not to profile.
I respect that, and I don't think for a moment that "forum maintenance" is any sort of party. Aside from the precious time it takes, I would imagine that anyone involved in that endeavour predominately hears only the complaints and gripes. Only very rarely, if ever, a word of appreciation. So, let me take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the administrators for their involvement in managing the Forums. Seriously, I thank you.
*If* you care to examine the post immediately preceeding my previous entry, does no one else have the feeling that it isn't as bogus as a three dollar bill? I sure as hell do. Links to commercial operations are a gigantic red flag.
Now, is that profiling? Absolutely. But, I'll tell you this; in the infinitesimally unlikely scenario that the Forum controls somehow appeared under my fingertips, it is a form of profiling I'd engage in without the slightest hesitation. Giving that stuff a pass, and then letting it hang around, only encourages it to continue. (It certainly doesn't discourage it.) Seems like simple self-defense to me.
In any event, I do regret buzz-killing the Ladycort proceedings.

I'll concede that occasionally someone shows up and just posts a few responses to "recent" threads that probably aren't totally legitimate, but the simple fact is that if they aren't spam and don't break any rules, I'm not going to ban them. There are a ton of registrations that happen by what I'm sure are spammers, but there's no real reason to ban them if nothing's happened. It takes about ten seconds from seeing a post to having the user banned and all their posts deleted. Sure it's reactive instead of proactive, but the truth of the matter is that in this place it doesn't really make that much of a difference.

I think, perhaps, that the following quote from Rex Banner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rex_Banner) might be right up your alley, Rhenna:
"If it were up to me, I'd kill everybody who looked at me cock-eyed!"

What if their name would be something like:
Jonzrocksnineteeneightytwo, would that still mean that they are getting banned? Cause it's still digits at the end but they're spelled...
