alright, i didnt know exactly where to start this thread, so if you dont like where it is you can move it.

Ok, i know that once your outta school and everything age isnt as "important" as it is when you are in school. I know this girl who is almost 5 years younger than me and i like her...i dont want to be a "cradle robber" or anything so do you think i should hold off for a few years? I need a few opinions just so i can settle my mind for awhile.

I don't know if I'd agree with the 17 and up thing without clarification... If you are seventeen, then no. 17 and 12 is probably not acceptable. If she's seventeen, then that would make you 22, provided I haven't forgotten basic math. :) That seems a little better, except it might be illegal, depending on where you live. If you can get by the statutory thing, then alright. I think there will be a lot of frowning on it and such, at least until it's like 25 and 30. BUt, I mean, my cousin is like 26 or 27 and is marrying a 20 year old, so who knows?

If you like her enough, go with her...

In some parts of the world (the phillipines come to mind) it is perfectly acceptable for 17 and 12 year olds to go together. As long as the male side is older.

Ok dude - give us a clue... where do you fit in? 15-20, 20-25, 25-30??? I'm 27 and I'd go for anything that's out of school. I live (in dating context) by two sayings:
1. You are only as old as the woman you feel.
2. You are what you eat (*grin*)
Hope that doesn't make me sound too pervy....

Unless you are over 25 that is not acceptable. If you are under that age only 2 to 3 years would be acceptable.

Oh come on!! At 12 year old a girl hasn't even developed tits!! A 17year old male has pretty much got the needed tools - thats sick dude!

Yeah, it is.

I'd have to second that. Just cause some people did it at some point doesn't really make it alright. The Romans thought the ideal of beauty was a young boy, and hey, they were one of the greatest empires ever. Hell, I majored in Roman history. Doesn't make their pederasty alright, though.

I believe there was a custom in England, (perhaps it endures in certain circles), where a man should marry a woman half his age plus seven years. So, the older the man, the younger, relatively speaking, would be his bride.

I would imagine a lot of 40-year old guys would be thrilled to have a 27-year old wife. I rather doubt anybody asked the women what they thought of the plan, but I concede that it was, and remains, a man's world. I'm cool with it.

I think the girl is as old as she looks....I'm 19 and I wouldn't mind fucking around with a girl with the age of say 15 but ONLY if she looked....and more importantly.....ACTED more maturely. I think it's bullshit to say that they're still little girls if they look and ACT like an adult.

Chimera[NL], by "act", I'm going to assume you mean "behave". In the vast majority of cases, a fifteen year old boy or girl is acting if they try to mimic adult behaviour. Surely your own perspective on how the world works has grown in the years since you were fifteen, and undoubtedly, it will continue to evolve.

I've met some very mature teens in recent years; they seem more knowledgeable and sophisticated than I remember being at that age. But, upon getting to know them further, they are just as clueless as most everyone is then. And why shouldn't they be? Fifteen year olds will have enough of life's burdens placed on them soon enough. Pretending to be an adult now won't make those burdens any easier, IMO. And someone reinforcing a fifteen year old's notion that he or she IS an adult by immersing them in an "adult" relationship seems very risky for all involved.

(I remember how I felt when I was 19, too. )

lol

judge to bob: "How do you plead?"
bob to judge: "But she looked (and ACTED)...."

The law is the law dude - once you've hit 18 I think it's time to reconsider the age gap thing for a while - at least until it's legal again. Less of course NL's legal age is 16, in which case I may be moving there pretty soon..... :] (evil grin)
