I'm using my slooooooooooowwwwwwwww120mhz pen now.
My modem works great in it. But I can't get it to work in my other rig. It was working great, and suddenly it quit! And nomatter what I do it won't work in it anymore.
I've tried everything that I can think of.
I've get a message that the modem is'nt responding to the OS. I've tryed to change the ports, irq's. I even reloaded windows, my mobo drivers, tried reloading backup registrys. Nothing!
I have a aopen FM56-PM PNP. It works fine in this old PB rig. But it won't respond in the other. It's a TyanI810 Tomcat. Well the mobo is. I'm playing hell opening ports on that rig. I've been in my divice manager as deep as you can go. And unlike this old PB rig, it won't let me have access to more then one port setting at a time. But that should'nt matter to this modem. It should configure itself to what ever port that windows asigns it, well should'nt it? There are no jumpers on this modem. So I can't set the ports and irq's that way.
Is there a way that I can force it to work? Thats one of the things that I've not learned yet. Is how to force hardware to work. I've never needed to yet.
I look forward to to your help. It well be a new thing that I well learn about servicing PC's.
Most importantly is how can I get this modem to work in my other rig? I realize that I may not have to force it to work. Maybe it's just something else that I'm missing. But I would like to know how to force hareware to work.
I've crashed this system several times, and none of my usual routines work.
The system works fine otherwise. Thank You for your help.
