Learning Photoshop or something

Does anyone know any good basic Photoshop tutorials? Cause the library I work at has Photoshop, and I figured it was about time that I got myself an avatar. So, I thought I'll try to learn the bare minimum needed to make a Manny Calavera picture. You folks are amazing at it, so I thought maybe you had some handy website you started on. Or, of course, you guys just started out that good. :)

But personally I would recommend you to do some reading(this was the way I started it).

Ah, thanks again. Once the computer is back on its feet, maybe I'll have a pretty new picture for everyone to look at...
