get ur shit together...is it pci or agp...and how old is ur dell...we need more info than that...if u need pci slot vid card, the best u can get is geforce 4 mx 440 with ddr...

damn...dont support dell...build ur own rig...cheaper...more customizable...better

then ...you should be able to put anything u want in it if its only a year old...and be able to run any game u throw at it...as long as its about 1ghz speed pentium 3, although athlons are better...oh well...take it somewhere that fixes pcs and theyll do all the dirty work for you...yellowpages my friend

If it's an AGP card and you have an AGP slot then it should fit

He's telling the truth. The mini tower he's talking about here usually don't even have a AGP slot, just three PCI slots. Doesn't matter though, since none of the cards could possibly fit in their. Anything go beyond the size of a nVidia Geforce2 will not be able to fit into that tower in any direction. The cards these days are slightly bigger than that. I really don't see how you can fit any powerful stuff into that Dell's shit. That minitower just was never designed to be upgraded. Sorry Cappy. Unless you are willing to use your machine with its case open, you are basically screwed.

He can cut a hole in his case....that could work....

Yes. I know. Computer Technician and genius, I must be.

I've got your solution. Rip everything out of your Dell case and toss it into a genuine ATX case. Now, everything will fit. Then, dump about three weeks worth of garbage in the old case and ship it back to Dell. "Dude, you're getting a load."

I HATE those bastards! By the way, as far as PCI video cards go, get a Radeon 9000. Not the fastest, but it's DirectX 8 compliant and it's about the best you can currently get for a PCI slot.

huh, whered u see a radeon 9000 for pci...as far as ive seen...the best pci cards yet are geforce4 mx 440 w/ 64mb ddr, and ati radeon 7500...wow...
also...
why did they never make somethign that would bond a couple of pci slots together to make a data rate about as fast as a agp slot for ppl who have pentium 3 or older computers, just wondering...

give me the link for that vid card...

peace out

The Radeon 7500 and NV MX440 are decent cards for PCI, but just DirectX 7 compliant. The 9000 is DirectX 8 compliant, and I can't think of anything else for PCI that is. Check around on PriceWatch for 'em. GoogleGear and Newegg were selling them the last time I checked. 9000 is clocked at 250MHz core, 250MHz memory, (500Mhz DDR); the 9000 Pro, which I'm not sure comes in PCI, is 275/275. BTW, doesn't your Asus mobo have an AGP slot? Or, maybe you just want to run two vidcards?

Damn, I forgot to warn him about those damn DELL proprietary mobo's and power supplies!!! I hope he doesn't mix'n'match with a standard PS, 'cause there's an easy 50/50 chance he'll wind up smokin' his system... "Dude, your getting a FIRE!"

And sushi128: Glide lives on here at the compound. I have five (5) Voodoo2's on-site, four of which are still SLI-ing away on a regular basis. And a V3 3500TV, and a V5 5500, too. And I don't care who knows it! Jihad!!!

ah yes...GLide.....i heard it works wonders with UT. the V5 i'm not so crazy about, but the V3 3500, what a friggin powerhouse. takes me back, at a time when i could deal with the 16bit color, cause it was just such a damn good card. those V2's, those are keepers. i won't tell anyone :D

uh, i'm not that old, but atleast i remember when 3DFX was WAY up top. 3DFX is dead, have i suggested otherwise? it kills the GF2 and radeon in UT (direct 3D/open GL), but how bout newer games? i don't think any 3DFX would stand a chance. but what i DO advocate on the topic of 3DFX is for secondary systems. cheap and powerful :)

k?

PS: a voodoo 1 working in quake 3???!?!?! imagine that...(seriously, that's quite a pleasent surprise)

Correction it kills only in Glide, but there's not true 32bit on 3Dfx... so if you set Geforce to 16Bit it kills Voodoo3 easiliy. :)

UT can use GLide, and therefore it kills; and from personal experience, the IQ was much better (even openGL was better than direct3D). and i mentioned how GLide was superior in UT in a previous post. and i don't believe the original geforce would beat the voodoo 3, even with 16bit color. i'll need some hard numbers to be convinced (not that u care anyware...)
