Is it just me, or has anyone else pissed away large amounts of time on just the Freelancer demo? God I love that game. The only thing that I wish it had was the ability to fly on planets, that would be cool. And you could bomb the shit out landing pads and what not. It'd be cool!

Only problem i have with the demo is that yuou cant go anywhere without taking an ass pounding. I guess its due to the fact that your rep sucks.....I hope the full game dosent put you in the same hole.....I plan on doing the multi-player server only anyway.

Still, was kinda fun demo though.

Im Hooked on Medieval Totoal War at the moment.

The Single player does kill you like that wherever you go. Unless you get in good with the criminals then only the police bother you.

It does get tiring. To many random battles and later on in the game you will sometimes popout of a trade lane to be greated by 10 missles streaking at you. I usually just kiss my ass goodbye because the hopes of you ever getting to cruise again are hopeless. They keep firing cruise disruptors and you take them all out quickly (because they have buddies who come and help) or you somehow manage to enter cruise.

I played through the first time being the nice adventurer. The next time won't be so forgiving :)

I don't know about the demo but the retail version took away 44 hours so far of my life after only a week or 2 so far, man it's so addictive.
At the moment i'm in my Hammerhead with a bud on my way down to find me a Sabre.. i'll give you a tip, when it's time to really go out there and explore you better have lots of loot in your pocket. When I left NY I has 2.5 million in the bank, you're going to need it for some bribing to get the good weapons and ships, staying neutral with the baddies is hard but if you can do it go for it, most of the time if you're not green though you won't get access to the high-tech stuff :)... and most important, find a buddy to travel with.

I give it *****.

Those are stars not cuss words.

I'm anxious to actaully play the game, it doesn't seem to like my soundcard.

One question, to people who have played the retail version, would you say it's as open-ended and exapndable as say.. Morrowind?

Becuase I'd love to see something with as much potential as Morroiwnd has but set in the future and in space, far cooler.

Freelancer really is addictive. Spacial graphics are kinda nice, the textures however are pretty blurry. I dunno if it's my graphics settings, they're all set to the default with 16-bit colour. I've restarted the retail game like 3 times already because I usually end up not playing for awhile due to things coming up and I became totally disorientated. THis happen to anybody else? I just restart the game and end up tired with it since I don't wanna play threw it back to the point I restarted... or something....

Anyway, trading is pretty much pointless unless you have a highly vulnerable freighther so your best bet are the jobs. I really wish they had a variety besides 'Kill this guy.' 'Kill these ships.' 'Kill this guy and these ships.' 'Kill the ships and base.' 'Kill the ships, base, this guy and capture this guy and recover this cargo.' ... wait I made that last one up.

Yeah, so I heard the demo only has the Liberty system. Does it also have the main plot of the game or are all cutscenes and main plot stuff left out? Cause the game is HUGE!!!! with Rheinland, Kusari and Bretonia and to explore still.

Smapdey

Demo only has liberty and boots your ass out after you reach level 2. Sucks...

Raxc
March 3rd, 2003, 07:57 PM
Wow... that ... really sucks considering how fast you actually reach level 2.

Smapdey
March 3rd, 2003, 08:05 PM
You can do things to prevent that, I just don't take a lot of missions any more and what not. But you're right, it sucks.

freelancer is the best... with my crummy mobo i can still run it at high everything without experiencing much of a fps drop ;)

Your mother is the best, even with my useless, small, bruised wee wee, she still manages to satisfy.

Oooooo.

Yeah, another reason I love Freelancer. My shitbox runs it rather decently.

Do the controls suck? I heard there's no joystick support, and that kinda makes is sound bad to me.

future man
March 4th, 2003, 07:17 AM
Dude, all you need is a mouse to play, the control scheme rocks

Voivod
March 4th, 2003, 07:28 AM
the interface is pretty slick on the demo.... and the mouse was a good choice.....i was sorta used to that after playing Earth & Beyond. (which i just quit this month, thats another topic though)

They perfected mouse flight, it's awesome. They really pulled off making a great game. I love it.

I've played the first missions in the demo, and it's quite nice.
Although I must sy that Earth & Beyond is way better than Freelancer, with the whole MMORPG gamestyle. I also like the diversity of classes that you can be, and specialize in. Too bad I could only play it for the 5-day trial.

Voivod

Shlumpen, the game gets rather old (E&B).....real lack of content, and terrible lag even over a strong connection. I did enjoy it for a while.....i started as a beta tester, played for about 8 months total.

The same treadmill all of the online games seem to be based on.

Woot.. just got out again after a 8hr fest, the mouse controls work hella fine, if the graphics look like crap on your system well it's just your crappy system.. ok this post was ass but i'm tired as hell.

BTW.. this is like the last thing i've been doing before I go to sleep at night and I keep on having space war like dreams, I wonder where they come from?

Raxc
March 4th, 2003, 04:49 PM
Bah. ALL MMORPG's suck. They're like money ... uh.. money things that attract monies of potential ... addictiv.... something peoplel

Smapdey
March 4th, 2003, 05:31 PM
MMORPGs are really fucking boring, I'll give you that.

March 4th, 2003, 11:01 PM
It gives me a great feeling of glee every time I pop a Twilight Guardian while they're trying to level in J01. A very great sense of glee. Then Saiyans come in and nuke me again. That part sucks.

(nightly neocron game)

Raxc
March 4th, 2003, 11:33 PM
Neocron was horrible. Quirky background but it was horrible. I really liked the home/apartment system and computer but it was still horrible...

I would definatly buy E&B if I were forced to play a MMORPG or just take the red pill.

I used to play Dark Age of Camelot.

I want my money back.

Really? I've heard DAoC is actually really fun and a potential EverQuest killer.

Smapdey
March 5th, 2003, 05:29 PM
It's fun but like everquest monotonous.

Not a killer though. Nowhere near as popular.

Magical Fruit
March 5th, 2003, 08:33 PM
Smapdey is correct saying that Daoc is not the eq killer. Daoc was good, but didnt come out with all that eq already had, so it never became as popular. The sad thing is that most people just never want to give up in eq. They won't look to the light and see that eq is an outdated time waster. I don't think there will be an eq killer till eq2.

Smapdey
March 5th, 2003, 08:58 PM
So I went and got the game. Grade A fucking marvilous!

COME TO E2 SERVER!!!!

Raxc
March 5th, 2003, 10:02 PM
Ya know what'd be funny? If EQ players don't want to leave EQ for EQ2 since they spent so much time on EQ 1... unless of course Verant is letting them port their EQ characters over to EQ2.

March 5th, 2003, 10:40 PM
No porting of chars.
