Here's something I've been working on recently. Thanks RADiator for suggesting some backgrounds. I'm open to suggestions...
(This is the first thing I've done outside of school, btw)

Suggestions:
1. Try to use another font. And add some effects to it.
2. Characters look kinda low res. I think you can find higher res. pics. (I’ll try to search for some on the net later).
Personal thought: From what I’ve learned simplicity some times is the key. I cant see the background. So I think you should just take one character instead of three (but remember this is only my thoughts).
And what’s up with the resolution is it supposed to be 800X600? Are you planning to make it bigger?
You're on the right path keep it up.

Ok, Number 2. I removed the two other characters, and made the title more interesting. I'm stuck with wordart, btw. Photoshop Elements doesn't have fancy text effects, for some strange reason.

Hmmm you must be doing something wrong: try right click layer > blending options and there you have all effects you can possibly wish for.

It's different in elements. I finally found something, it's layer options...

Try also using filters. BTW which photoshop version you have (I hope it's 7.0)?

Elements 2.0. I said elements before, you know. I tried to get PS7 but I couldn't get a valid CD-key

Hmmm....I don’t think you should use texture here. Just bevel it. And use another colour for the font. But it looks MUCH better now when you use ps 7.0

Too plain, add more pics, and a better font. Experiment with blending and overlaying and screening. Also try filters.

If he adds more pics the background will be unnoticeable. I totally agree on using filters. Also two things keep bothering me why the HELL is it so small (800X600) and why don’t you use higher resolution something about 1024X768 and I think you should use someone from here:http://www.blizzard.com/war3/wallpaper/ instead of spell braker (yeah they are not frzen throne art but much higher resolution).

It's 800x600 because that's what resolution my desktop is set at. Sorry... Anyways, I added a few pictures around the edges, I'll fix the font later. http://www.journalspace.com/images/galleries/5800-3-16116.jpg

Move the symbols to the left side and have the character on the right, slightly off screen, and have any text behind the character, not the character behind the text.

Ok, I changed the font so it's a bit nicer. I also did what Roq said to do, but also took the other elf image I had and made a second wallpaper from that.

Ok, here is my real opinion. I'm not sure what style your going for, but i suggest you start all over again. No offence but the wall paper is sorta trashed. Try scaling down the pictures and using more vivid objects, also make sure that the shields and stuff you use arnt low quality.
