It is not very related to web and graphics, but it's gonna be on my site too so I was thinking about letting you guys see it first.

The thing is not finished, though, as you can see the soddering need to cleaned up. My professor taught me how to make it and helped me like 75% of the work. It will be complete by next Monday.

The little dot at the upper middle section is a bit off and the upper part of the ring is not centered, too... Well this is my first metal project, so I hope I will do a lot better on the next one. My professor had absolutely no idea what this thing is and always prefer to view iot up side down while planning the work.

It is indeed metal. It's made of copper, The upper part, includes all the pieces like circles, rings, and wings, were 16 gauge. The bottom piece was 18 gauge, all pretty thick.

Certain parts shifted to the left during the heating and we had to reheat it to melt the solder to move them back. The result was solder all over the piece, which is kind of hard to sand off. In fact another solder was needed just to fill all the back of the piece since some of them weren't flat and I had to hammer them to even.

I have been sanding it ever since, but the silver-looking solder won't go away. This is how it looks right now, but it will get better:

I want to learn how to make belt buckles. Dude, Yian, you should sell those, they fucking rule. I would buy like a gazillion of those.

Thanks everyone!:D It took me almost 5 days to get this close on just this one... so I think this is the one and only Homeworld2 belt buckle, thought I would very much like to do it again.

How about a picture of it attached to a belt?
:)

I kinda want to see how it turned out. All in all, though, I think you've established your place as the craftiest person here. Unless anyone has any popsicle stick houses they like to share.:)

I bring this old, lame thread back to life to let you guys share with my joy: I've finished the belt buckle based on Homeworld2's logo.

As you guys might have known, I'm quite disappointed by Homeworld2 right now. But the logo is still cool, nevertheless.

After the sanding is done, the excessive amount of solder posed problems: the liver of sulfer won't turn certain part black nad I have to redo the patina for many, many times. The chunk of steel wires left between the gap during the sanding started to rust, to, and the whole thing looked ugly at that time. Eventually I brushed the rust off and did one last patina and this is considered to be complete.

My professor is leaving my college and heading for NWC for better employment. Best regards to her.
