is this a brand name computer? did u build it yourself? upgrade?
and turn off automatic restarts on errors. that way atleast you'll know if you're getting a BSOD.

is it possible that his computer is overheating? Was it ever overclocked?

Yeah, turn off auto restart. Next time you get the error write down the info (the numbers 000001xx...blah...blah...blah...) and try searching in the M$ Knowledge base.

Yeah, extra cooling never hurt anyone. If nothing else, crack the case open and put a fan next to it. I'll probably get crap for suggesting that, but I had a friend build a computer, and overclock it. After he melted his first proc, he got a box fan and just had it blow into the computer. Noisy as all get out, but he also had Klipsch 5.1s. Mmmm.

The boys are right when they say it could be any number of things, but with just the description you provide, I would add a marginal power supply to the list of possibilities. It's acting-up only when you're playing 3D games?
We really need more information.
