Do not try or attempt putting out a fire with water, Earlier this Saturday I made a small fire outside; it bored me, So I decided that I was going to go back inside and I destroyed the fire with a garden hose, Later around 10:00 I went outside to investigate a strange thumping noise; It was fire works, I noticed my fire still lit[somehow it came back on.] And the noises were behind a large tree that I could not see behind, So I thought that since I couldn't see anything I would light some of the things left over from last year, I lit this little "Buzz bomb" it flew into the air and landed in my neighbors yard, And I still couldn't see the fire works; so remember, When (if) you make a fire just let it burn eventually it will cease flaming. Therefore.

Try using sand the next time.....is much better fire retardend.....is that a correct word? I know it has to be something like that I hear it a lot on discovery so.....

Yeah, after you make a fire, cover it with dirt or sand or something.

And the word you're looking for is "retardant." Something that retards fire.

With the really big bonfires, the best way is to let them burn out--which can be a long night, I'll tell you what--and then start shoveling the hot stuff under. You can hose down the sand or such after, if you want to.

Unstead of letting it burn out i wanted to save some wood, For the next night; I don't have much wood left, Wood is very valuable, I don't know what we would do without it. Indeed though just letting it burn out is a good idea

Um, you don't have to expend any more wood letting it burn down. All you do is let the wood completely combust, instead of stopping the process early. Fires go out on their own. All the watching part is is to make sure it doesn't jump anywhere.
