Anyone know of any programs that let you make two computers think they are on a LAN while actually just communicating over the internet?

u can do that...
first u set up ur incoming connection from the create new connection set up its ip to 192.0.0.1 then subnet mask to 255.255.255.0
next u tell ur mate to set up his/her dial up... btw u have to specify the username and password in the incoming connection. set his/her ip to 192.0.0.2 then same subnet mask. and before connecting disable any LAN
