Asking someone to fix your computer problems online knowing just some (undetailed) system spec is pretty much useless attempt... unless ofcourse we have some Mechwarrior 4 fanboys/guru's here who know every lil bug about that game with every possible patch and pc config??? ;)

I'll give ya teh easiest possible solution, get a different video drivers.

There were some old Nvidia drivers, (official reference drivers), that would totally refuse to run an otherwise correctly installed, patched up-to-date version of MW4 I had on a completely stock Intel BX/Pentium III system. I can't recall the version number, nor find the notebook at the moment where I keep such info, but this was quite some time ago. Like, not too long after the release of WinXP. I'm guessing it was the 2nd version of Nvidia's WinXP driver-set, because the game ran fine, initially.

Obviously, the solution then was to roll-back to the older drivers. Nothing else on the system misbehaved, though. Newer drivers since have been OK, MW4-wise. Which are you using?

MW3 was pretty good. And you could change around your Mech more. The entire hardpoints idea is lame. Kinda broke my heart, and I've played everything with the Mech name on it since MW2. Even the expansions.

yea but i still loved the game to death....i remember first playing the demo of MW3 being so shocked that i was actually playing MECHWARRIOR 3!!! i was wetting my pants even tho i was prob really young...lol but i liked MW3 the best out of all the Mech games ive seen yet.... i loved blowing dents in the ground! and blowing up buildings! i went and got a Voodoo 3 3000 just for that damn game!!! the expansion wasnt a whole new ball game for me tho....but it was still fun....MW3 to me is the greatest!

Well, there's no need to bail on MW4. The latest Nvidia drivers are, I believe, 44.03. (That's what I'm using, at least.) If that's the issue, you should be OK once they are installed. (I get the impression you may be using the generic drivers that come with WinXP.)

Here's the link:

I'm also a big fan of MW3. I miss the MechLab, the more powerful and longer-ranged weapons, and the "damaged" skins the Mechs have after being hit. Very under-rated and under-appreciated title, IMO. The friendly AI could have been quite a bit better, however.

Yeah, it was terrible. But, the sniping was fun. Get some great Clan ER lasers and just blow the legs off the big mechs at range? Fun times. Especially in a Mad Cat. Cause then you can go toe to toe with big mechs too.
