I've noticed that a certain few of my MP3's are getting this static sound in them. I know it's the MP3's, and not my sound card, because it's the same sound in all the same places of the MP3's. Do these things deteriorate over time? That shouldn't be so. I've been re-ripping the bad ones and getting the good ol' quality sound back, but still I shouldn't have to do this.
The only thing I can think of is when I was neglecting to activate my Windows XP Pro for the longest time. I must have reformatted my drive 6 times in 4 months. When I did that, I had my second 80G drive that I'd keep all my valuable information on, including all my MP3's. Could transfering MP3's from one drive to another over and over eventually lead to this? Or does anybody have a clue to what's up with my music? It bums me. I'm thinking about reserving a weekend for re-ripping my whole collection to 320kbs if this keeps up.
