I'm liking this game a lot. There is SO much play, so many levels, it's complicated and simple at the same time. The "puzzles" are cool, I like how they adapted all the computer parts into it (e.g. bits and bytes, you have to overclock the computer at one point, etc.). The visuals are really amazing... when you take out this gun called the LOL, you actually break a rod and a bunch of little pieces fly together. The glow is really nice and looks much like the movie.

My complaint comes in the area of performance. Most textures are simply two colors, but it still takes a full minute to load them all. Every time I quick-load (loading into the same level) it's a toss up between a two second load and a thirty second load. Many times on the bigger levels the graphical lag goes off RIGHT after you click the shoot button. I'm on high quality, but they recommended G4 Ti series for the high quality.

Also, aiming the disc is annoying when you're in the middle of battle. I want to jump and shoot it at his head, but it always goes above where my crosshair was. Very annoying. Also, sometimes I shoot my disc, someone blocks it, and I have to run around with no disc waiting for it to come back while I'm defenseless.

Otherwise this game is great. I love it. The subroutines (which is actually in the coding stage, not the program stage) are fun to switch around when you need to, upgrading them, getting to higher version numbers, the storyline. All in all it's a great game.

you know when you right click the disc comes back faster right......

anywho, to much of many peoples dismays i mostly buy FPS games for online play. while i know tron was intended for single play. I find the minor jumping puzzles somewhat... awkward.

but yes i do feel like the game was very well put together and i need to give it another try as soon as i can get my paws off Republic =p

(which i would normally call a name as hell game if it wasnt so addicting)

Aiming at their feet will (mostly) solve the disc blocking problems. As for the long loading times, even though the textures are monochromatic, they are high quality and a lot of them do have cube maps applied to them

And why would they have cubemaps and shit if it's just one or two colors?!

what does cubic mapping have to do with colors?

and where do you notice Tron 2.0 having cube maps? i guess there could be a reflection or 2 somewhere, but that's news to me....

lol... I noticed lots of shiny/reflective/cube maped textures. I had no problem owning those idiot ICP's, I either got behind them and got a head shot or I shot at feet, right clicked to get disc back right away, and reapeated until dead.

Everyone has mixed decisions about this game... i'm thinking I did best by passing it up.

Well, if you werent a TRON movie lover, then this game probably isnt for you. The game lacks in alot of areas especially the choice of weapons. Allthough I loved the disc fighting with the ICPs, POWER BLOCK ALL THE WAY BABY! The other weapons were pretty much, stupid except for the Prankster Bit. The game itself was exceptionally difficult, but very predictable. Can't anyone create a FPS that has some random possibilities for the location, speech and actions of the enimies? The light cycle routine was tough to get used to at first, but once you get the hang of it its actually quite fun and really had the feel of the movie. But once again, it did lack in some areas there also. The ambient sounds of the game were superb as well as the graphics... Of course you need the latest DX 9 and an up to date graphics card to notice all the goodies in graphics. I was using an older set of drivers for my Radeon 9700 and when I updated the graphics drivers, I noticed a big difference in the look of the game. The story line was so/so and very predictable as well. I was waiting for this game, so I just had to buy it. Its very playable and addicting just because I loved the movie.

I give it a 7/10 (on the low side of 7)

I actually hated the Tron movie. I thought it was slow, uninsteresting, and the music was too boring. In-game though, I had lots of fun.

I see, well I saw it in the theater when I was a kid. So I guess you had to be there. I will give you the music tho, kinda sounds like bad porno music.

i just played tron 2.0 last night and it is pretty good.. will put some more here when i actually play more of it.. thus far i only did 1 or 2 levels.. the only gripe is the performance in not too good on my comp.. hovers around 45 fps w/ 4xaa and 8xaf.. and there are noticeable jaggies on the disc.. i would like sushi to confirm if he also sees the jaggies on the disc with 4xaa.. or any weapon for that matter?

I did notice the Jaggies on the disc no matter what I did... But on my P 2.4 (crapping VIA board) with my 9700 pro, it played pretty damn smooth. No chop or stutter.

Ya the game is great... but I would love to see some light cycle action on a larger multiplayer scale than just lan... I mean, how many people have access to lan hookups? and the disc arenas, if they could incorporate that into single player action like the light cycles, that would be cool too.
I know that the lag would be terrible and such, but still... if other games can do it...

Oh and the game would have a BUTLOAD of replayability if the MOD-makers out there could/would make some new maps for both the single player and cycle modes... anyone get what I'm sayin?

i am playing Tron 2.0 and i am notcing on some parts it looks like textures are missing there are these white parts sometimes on things in the game and it looks like there is suppose to be textures there but there not, i was wondering if anyone elses looks like this or if its my Geforce 4 Ti that is making it do this, its the full game purchased and all, i have the newest drivers for my card and the newest DirectX 9 im not sure why it looks like that....ummmm maybe something screwed up in my PC, b/c i noticed at the begining of Tron where there is a cut scene and there are blocks zooming in front of you there were suppse to be credits and names of the developers, well all i saw was white rectangels on each block.... anybody elses like this? or anyone know how to fix this?

Damn.. I finished this game.. thank you Lord that we still have long games.. it took me a while.. i am guessing around 16-17 hours in total.. and I thoroughly enjoyed it.. it has made into my favorite games of all time list.. and I truly loved what I saw in this game.. the graphics, the sound, the subroutines, the upgrades, the weaponry, the concept, I dunno.. this is most definitely one of the very best and sound games i have seen.. (not much we have seen like this lately IMO).. Unique and A HELL LOT OF FUN!

I truly give this game a 9 out of 10.. and a well deserved one.. please please make a sequel to this game or an expansion pack or something.. i want more of it.. I am off to play light cycles.. AWESOME STUFF.. btw I played on normal as always and now its time for hard.. I DONT REPLAY MY GAMES.. but this one I will!
