I was asked to fix a computer for someone in my dorm. I went to his room and tried to find out what the problem is.

Obviously he was watching tons of videos he got from the net. It is indeed very dangerous to let stuff like KaZaa to get into your hard drive... anyway, his Win98 stopped working. It stucked at the loading part where there is a bar at the bottom of the screen going you know...

I got into the safe mode and realized that the OS is dead. All major .sys were wiped out for some reasons I will never know. So the only way to do it would be reinstall the shit. Which I did.

Everything went fine and win98 was once again there. He's using a onboard VGA so I have to go update his mobo's chipset so he can have 16 bit color on his destop. That's when I realized how bad his shit is...

CPU:PII MMX
Hard drive: 6GB
mobo chipset: Intel 440

Fuck...

This shit should be in a computer musium or something. Anyway, in the middle of grabbing the driver for his sound card, the OS fucked up again. This time his file allocation table is gone for some reason... I think his hard drive is simplay fucked. He just kept telling me all the crap like this is a new computer. Newer than his car...

It makes me think of those people who are like "I have an IBM", and don't even know about comp specs, then when you try to explain something to them they act like they know it then try to shut you up before they think they have given away how stupid they are... or people who disagree on something technical (ie. screen refresh rate lock on LCD) when you (in this case me) are the programmer/tech support person and they are disagreeing with you on something they barely know about... and eventually it turns out they thought refresh rate was being able to see the side of the screen on a laptop :D
