I have WinME and I have stuff like lvcoms and quicktime running all the time. It slows down my computer and I don't like having to turn it off manually all the time. How can I turn them off?

go to Start>Run>type: msconfig>Startup>uncheck what you don't want>Restart when it says to

Ok, now I know how to turn everything off:) How could I tell what everything is? I don't want to turn off something beneficial, but I don't want my computer lagging because of it. (I know what a lot of it is, but stuff like devldr16 fixredir and lvcoms tell me nothing)

it should tell you the path to the file, which is usually a big help. if it doesn't the last thing i can think of is to just turn it off and see what happens

Go to your Task Manager, look at the Processes. The ones that have your user name next to it are not necessary (unless you do want them to run, such as pop-up-killer) to be there and you should be able to turn them off from msconfig.

Other thing can are necessary services where you can turn some of them off from the service tab of msconfig. Find the services you don't think you need and uncheck them.

After you find the names of your background task in msconfig (cr3am's post already told you how), don't turn them off yet. try your best to turn them off from those application themselves, especially things like QuickTime or RealPlayer, or it might end up that they come back and make more boxes for you to ubcheck in msconfig.

... and don't, don't ever mess with registry! Hope the tips helped.
