Ok I got this idea cause last night I was playing some Freelancer and everything was kool for about 6 hours, then all of a sudden two 56kers come in and that slows the server to a crawl, first the lag went yellow, then it went red, then the server crashed on our asses.. normally the server runs with about 25 of use perfectly so this was never a prob.
Now some may think i'm whining and some may think i'm being inconsiderate, to those peeps who think either of those I say Fuck U twice:D .. ok to make this short I think it's time society outlawed or made using 56k illegal, it's time to hunt down these criminals and lock them away, these terrorist cannot and will-not be allowed to carry on unchallenged in their ruthless activities.. I say it's pointless sometimes to be paying for broadband each month and then have some 56k dude come in and mess it all up for us paying folks... Waaaa.

long live terrorism!!1
im a 56ker and i love it!...

actually i dont. they could ban 56k, but as long as they lower the prices for broadband that would be cool. if they woudnt id crap on the walls.

i think they should just make a server response thing, where you have a maximum ping or something

Curse em 56k'ers. I think that it should be phased out... like in half a year. Broadband isn't all that much more, so I say, unless there isn't a broadband option where you live go now and update!

broadband costs double the price in some cases! besides, i know plenty of broadband players with pings that would match a 28.8

$20 / month isn't really life or death... and that only happens with Cable... !BURN! !schwing! [to cable users]

March 10th, 2003, 08:52 PM
well, netzero costs $10, and cable costs $40+

and those friends with broadband and 28.8 pings, all i can say is that the computer can go slower than the connection, but the computer can't go faster. So basically, his computer sucks ass, but without broadband your computer can't get any better. You're stuck on a POS level, and it takes 25 times longer to load webpages, and up to 100 times slower to download shit

My 90 mhz latop is infinitely better with DSL than with the 28.8k modem it was previously downloading on - streaming techno instead of streaming... lack of techno :D

the best thing after they kill all the floopy drives will be replacing all the 56kers with a network card... then they will be forced to get broadband if they even want to surf!

Maybe i'm in a nice area but my Cable never lags, as a matter I got rid of my Dsl this year for Cable.. nowadays broadband isn't expensive anyway so there is no excuse why some should hsve to suffer at the hands of the 56kers.. if you can't afford brodaband then pimp yourself on the corner, sell some lemonade on the sidewalk(warm climate folks).. damn anything to keep it flowing smoothly.

LOL.. this may be kinda mean but back in the Unreal Tournament days we had a rule on the servers we played on.. if anyone with a modem came on, or anyone lagging us up for that reason well both teams would put their differences aside and kill the lagger(s) first.. after a few deaths they got the point and left, back to normal gaming from there on.:D

Our school (Kutztown University) uses something close to T1 but our entire dorm(300 people or something) use one server so it is slow. Over the weekend it is fast though, because everyone goes home. During the vacation when there is absolutely no one around, I got to use it all by myself. Fast as hell man I tell you. I'm staying here again for Spring Break and I expect the same fun....

Broadband in my area is $50 a month, and that's $600+ dollars a year every single time you do the numbers. I can think of better things to do with that cash, like 12 new games! We have a shotgun modem hookup on two phone lines that we get 98.6 kbps on, (at best) and it's used to download patches, mods, maps, etc. It's a permanent LAN-party here with 9 PC's, so we don't miss the online stuff too much. Besides, the @$*%# cable companies keep jackin' the rates UP; God-forbid they ever throw you a bone and give ya' a free month every now and then.

Some places broadband isnt available. I have just had it for a few months. And you cant expect people to pay for the fucking sattallite connetion either. So be easy on the 56kers.

As I was saying... I don't hate people who use 56k... I just think that those who Could get Broadband should, but those who really can't pay / can't get it I can understand - solution: $30/month basic Broadband, everywhere I think would be fair.

Telkom, the monopolistic motherfucker telecommunications provider and regulator in South Africa, charges around $80-$100 per month, excluding ISP. Furthermore the bastard pig-dog pieces of shit impose a 3GB traffic limit with per megabyte penalties for exceeding the limit. Add another $20 for an ISP.

ISDN64K will cost you around $0.70 per weekend plus around $50 per month. ISDN128K will cost you $1.40 per weekend plus $50 per month. In addition, calls made in the week after 7am and before 7pm are charged at an ape-ass-raping per minute rate. Then add another $10-$20 for an ISDN ISP.

If anyone knows a cheap assassin please let me know.

holy shite...i love my cable...and after all...im willing to pay 45 a month cuz i have a job...GO GET A JOB PPL...

anyways...i live in western PA, and if u have the chance to get comcast or attbi, then get it...cuz cable roxs...my download speed on msn speed test is 2 mbps...if u think that aint fast than you better go kill your self...upload speed aint that bad either at about 300kbps i think i forget..
but its amazing considering i get 500kbps faster download than whats advertised...wow...my cable is nice...

if you have the chance to get cable in your area...and its lower than 50 bux...get it... lemme tell ya...its way worth it..

and dont get dsl...most dsl speeds are rated at 768kbps and thats way slower than most cable being faster that 1mpbs.. oh well...

and on the 56k laggin the server thing...its not possible to lag the whole server... it would only lag the connection betweeen the server and the 56k'er... they definitely wont affect you until you see them on the map. if ur connection lagged out just cuz a 56k or 2 joined, then its ur connections fault... believe me...

l8er yall

I would get cable but its too expensive. The modem cos around $130, then i have to pay for the first month of service which is like $50, thats $180 for the first month then another $50 a month after that. if i rent the modem it cost me $60 a month. Its a little too expensive for me, right now i only pay $21 for MSN, and it gives me decent pings most of the time (250-400). Besides, i signed a contract with MSN for 2 years, if i break it i have to give back the $200 they gave me.

Emmm... with all the fuck he had, ReDeeMer shows great potential in Flame Bin!

Anyways, I'm moving to an apartment soon, say goodbye to T1! I'm trying to convince my four roomates to set up a broadband connection. $40 devided by 5 would be 8 dollars per month for the entire house. Not a bad deal at all...
