Hey, not bad Avatarr, I downloaded it like 3 days ago and just got around to playing it....1626 ships shot down my first try....I like it.

I got bored near 1500 :P ... What does the gamer maker do for you exactly?
The problems:
1. No upgrades on weapons
2. No variations on enemies
3. Needs levels and a boss...
I could make a list, but other than that, for a first game, it's pretty cool.

Game Maker is a self contained 2d engine with a scripting language and a very nice editor. You can basically do anything 2d with it. I like it because most of the grunt work has already been done for me. It makes the implementation phase much much quicker.
Its main goal is to give n00bs like us the power to make games. I highly recommend taking advantage of its offer.
