This is what is happening to these companies. They grew rich and fat and now they are distant from the true gaming communities. They started to think that they "lead" the market and gamers and hardware enthusiasts will be willing to go with whatever they do. I could hardly finish the reading of that page. Hell, I could barely start!

Anyone here knows a poll Sony did to the market and the result is "only less than 1% of the gamers are interested in playing games with their friends. Most people prefer to play with people they don't know online, and majority of the people prefers to play a game just by themselves." Are you going to believe the poll, or believe what you see?

I have always be a big fan of Nvidia's video card. They have good hardwares and the drivers are really, really solid, But now ATI's drivers are just as good, and nvidia is not the fastest card anymore. I was first disappointed by the performence of nv30 chipset. I waited almost forever saving up monsy to buy that, but the review says it is loud, not even 25% as fast as it promised to be, and it takes two slot while the heat control is kind of bitchy to optimize.

Then I saw this campaign called "the way it's mean to be played." ATI never said this officially but if that's the case with nvidia, ATI is definitely "the way it's to be played better", since TR: Angel of Darkness yields a higher fps in ATI's cards while the game is part of the "mean to be played" campaign (nvidia has issued a patch to "slow down" the performence in ATI cards for the game.)

Then, they cheated in 3DMark03 and get caught. When FutureMark issued the first statement regarding this matter, ATI remained silent and ate those 'cause they knew they cheated as well, and FutureMarK's statement was quite vague on any indication of "cheating." But nvidia reacted furiously, like a kid got caught red-hand stealing candies and screaming "I didn't do it! I didn't do it!!" While bothe hands were full of candies. "Well, that's what you want..." thought FutureMark, and they came up with an full statement "just for nvidia" since ATI remained quite quiet, like "ok so what we cheated we are sorry how's that." Nvidia truly know how to embarass themselves.

Then The Dawn demo were ported to ATI card through an OpenGL wrapper, and even got her clothes (though there was barely any) stripped off, further proved that what nvidia can do ATI not just can do it as well, but also do it better. I was like "ok WTF what's the point of buying an nvidia card then!"

And remember, they are more expensive, and their box design sucks (I rather buy a card with metallic symbols or dogheads and stylidh red borders instead of some ugly green.) And how come nvidia don't update their drivers as often as ATI does now? And guess what? ATI just signed an agreement with Creative lab! Who is still doing the business?

Why would you choose to buy a particular piece of hardware just because the box looks like shit? Not really a valid argument if you ask me.

Chimera, the last part of the post is indeed NOT a valid argument, so don't worry about it. Take it as a joke.... ;) We Communication Design majors like to criticize the package design, which are not very important to most of you guys.

And about nvidia caught cheating in FutureMark, I didn't explained that well because I thought most of us know what happened already. The story was that nvidia and ATI did driver optimization to get a higher score in 3DMark03 and they got caught. The interesting part is nvidia won't stop issuing statements written with techincal words that avarage consumer wouldn't understand to defend themselves.
