Black Isle Studios is no longer a branch of Interplay as of today. They were all laid off and it seems there is no chance of Fallout 3. 2Lions, you might want to put this on the front page.

Never played any of Black Isle's games. Tried Baulder's Gate but I didn't like it too much. But its always sad to see such a high profile studio get shut down by corporations.

It doesn't make sense to me though - making money, a potential game that tons would buy [fallout 3] and things like that. I just don't understand the bastards.

From an industry that the poll yieids results such as "less than 1% gamers are interested in co-op mode", this makes perfect sense.

Oh, not to mention an award show that gives GOTY to a sports game, and most anticipated game to Halo 2...

[EDIT:] sorry for the misinformation, but the result of the PS2 poll on co-op was not 1%. It was 2%.

Interplay has been making more of a push for consoles lately.. I guess this is all part of some plan they have. Shitty plan if you ask me.

I'm not buying anything with an Interplay label on it.. that's for sure.

O man that sucks.....I was SO looking forward to a sequel to Fallout. Man that series are the shit!! Too bad a new Fallout game will never see daylight now, for PC that is. I don't get it, why are all the game companies pushing towards consoles? I don't get it....you can do much better things with a PC then such a fucking crappy ass console!

Once more I say: DAMN YOU CONSOLES!

Well, unfortunately the world is full of stupid people, i.e. Interplay execs. A console game just works. You pop it in, hit power, and it works unless there's a problem with your hardware. Even then, you go bug the hardware manufacturer, not the software publisher. (note: this will eventually clear the way for Interplay to lay off their entire tech support department) If you have a PC game, then you have to keep upgrading hardware... you have to be knowledgable about drivers and other software updates.. etc.

So basically, there aren't enough intelligent people left in the world. I blame AOL... getting on the internet used to be an IQ test of sorts. You must be this high to enter the Internet, so to speak. The iMacs just made it worse. People don't like to think anymore, for some fucked up reason. If Microsoft had their way, we'd all be using some strange Xbox/PC/tivo thing. I swear, companies are trying to get people to be lazy and stupid just so they'll buy their future crap.

So much for their motto "For Gamers, by Gamers" (Interplay still puts that on thier games, right?)

More like "For stupid bovine idiots, by evil corporate whore"

The 3rd of my BIG 3 favorites is now dead. Origin (they were dead to me after they went online only), Looking Glass, and now Black Isle.

The corporate machine is grinding away at full speed. Last week we saw the merger of IGN and Gamespy. Mergers and aquisitions make a few people rich and a lot of people pissed off. Unfortunatly, the rich whore is calling the shots. In America, we are governed by a Democracy under the slogan "We the People" (dont get me started), while our business structure is ruled like a ruthless Despot. The government sends 100,000 troops halfway across the world to remove a dictator from power, yet they overlook the dictator in Manhatten checking his stocks deciding to lay off 5000 people so he can get that nice new yacht after turning in quarterly earnings. The pen truely is mightier than the sword.

RIP BIS

This sucks.

(Is only 1% interested in co-op? I love co-op games!)

There are apparently 80% of gamers wanted to play co-op games, but the poll was probably based on some weird criteria and some marketing strategy makers tried to convince their boss not to waste money on online system. Good for them.

[EDIT:] here is a good article on it:

Ed- Interesting article. They mentioned Salzburg...

Well, now since Black Isle is dead (R.I.P.), the only company I see worthy of developing Fallout 3 would only be BioWare. That's if they ever get interested in making it to begin with...

This is pretty fucking depressing since Baldur's Gate is my favorite game of all time, fuck... I hope Bioware realize the potential and buys the license
