This is what I found in UbiSoft's support forum:

"...Try editing the 'SplinterCellUser.ini' file in the 'system' folder of the game directory. Look for ´Resolution´ near the bottom of the file. Change 640x480 to 800x600, and save the file. Try the game again.

Also note that on supported 32MB video cards, we recommend to play with minimal specs (minimal resolution 640x480; minimal shadow resolution and minimal shadow details) to avoid any crashes..."

With a Geforce2 MX 400 32mb, you really shouldn't go too high on resolution if you have your texture and detail on or above medium, because all MX cards are not that powerful... especially if you have only 32mb. I wouldn't go for AA or any fancy stuff, too.

Don't listen to him Bluu, your rig can handle it. Just tone everything to medium and disable the shadows you still can enjoy the gameplay. The first thing you want to upgrade (if you are going to...), though, is your CPU. your video card is still decent. Not top-notch, but decent, and that is enough.

I don't know Yian. If he has a GF2MX400. we're talking about non-DDR memory, which means his bandwidth is poor. (And, there's only 32Mb of it.) I remember a pretty detailed article on a PC hardware website where they demonstrated that once you reached about 800MHz with a PIII, you pretty much saturated the GF2 MX cards, and increasing the CPU speed didn't net any tangible improvement. Besides, unless he has a "Tulatin" compatible chipset, Bluu is pretty much at the top of the PIII foodchain, now. Bluu, if you DO have a Tulatin compatible mobo, be advised that the PIII's clocked faster than what you have are pretty pricey, like $120 and up. I think the 1.4GHz is like $225 or so. That's a lot of cash for "older" technology. My 2 cents: 1. Go with 256Mb of RAM if you're not there already. 2. Get something like an ATI 8500, 9000, or 9100, (which is an 8500 in disguise). The 64Mb models are going for under $85 online, and you'll have DirectX 8 compliance, too!

Well... I don't know, I used a GeForce2 MX 32mb, and I played SOF II with no problems. If he's going for P4, he will just have to get a new mobo... Seriously, P3 isn't enough to handle today's games anymore. But I think Geforce2 MX still can hold up a little bit...

i think it's the other way around; the graphix card is shit, and the processor is fine. when i was still using a P3-950, i upgraded to a Ti4200 and it opened up a whole new world :D
