I don't want to go to Church on Christmas either, but I do because I'm mature enough to see that me bitching about it will cause a disturbance that is very easily avoidable. Point of the story is, just suck it up and go.

Since i turned 18 my parents havent made me go to church...i never liked it and i always told them that the air burned me when i entered the church.:D ANYWAY, I dont think that i have to go to church just to show that i believe. In fact I am caught in between believing in God or not...I have to many questions that cannot be answered by the bible. I do accept the fact as of the past 3 years that if there is infact a heavan and hell that i will be going to hell b/c of my stupidity/ignorance/whatever you want to call it. If I ever do have children tho, I will encourage them to go to church (hopefuly w/their mother) and practice worshop. And if it ever comes down to them thinking that they dont have to go to church b/c I dont, then i will go just to show that it is good to go.

Doctor Beeeer, sorry to say this, but in this case I would have to disagree with you.

Not saying you are not mature or anything, but there are many, many people in history that thinks they are doing the "good" thing, and they are usually doing only what they think is good because they believed their god "in their own way."

What kind of God do you believe in, in your own way? The church might be boring and the cookies might be thin and cheap and the songs might be repetitive and dry and people might be fake and stupid and act like Flender in The Simpsons, but if that's the reason you start your own "believe", it's hightly doubtful you are on the right path.

I don't like church service, either, and I skip all of them, including the confessions, but if someone come to me and say Bible is bullshit and it's time to "reapproach the God", I will say" well Bible is bs if you take it literally, and you are always welcome to start a new branch of church."

Prayers are stupid if you are not sincere, either, but it's really the loss of those who choose not to pray because "praying get you no where."


In the prayers, people use terms like "show me the path" a lot because life is full of choices, and in most cases you do not know what the outcome is. Bible is not only the core of your religion (for the fanatics, it's the onlything of your religion, how's that?), its reading offers many principles you could rely on. You may or may not agree with all of them, but by learning or comparing them it definitely helps your life by setting your value and ethics on a solid ground, thus making less faults that would do harm.

I think your parent is a bit ignorant to force you into the church service. They should take time and discuss it with you instead of get mad and forcing their values into you, but aren't you a bit ignorant at the same time by believing that you know exactly what is right and what is wrong, and you will always do the good thing? ;)

As far as I can tell, 99% of people here doen't believe in God. But we only live once and we should have the right to choose the way we want to live untill the end. I think God might be fake, and making God as part of my life is equivelant to making a fiction as part of my life. But if all ends the same way at the end, why not a life with some comfortable thoughts?

I agree with downfall, and what if it is true? If its a toss up between spending the rest of forever in heaven or whatever, and saying "fuck it, Im having fun now/not wasting my time and thats all that counts" Id rather spend eternity in a comfortable place. I dunno about you guys... but thats where I stand.

Religion schmidgeon. I don't think that any of this exists. Heaven? HA, right. Heaven was born to comfort the people that even though they had a shitty life something better will await them. Back in the old days, REALLY old days life was shitty and people always want to have hope on something and when that hope can not be found in earthly things or in your earthly existance they pray that when they die they will go to a better place. That's what I think. But even if I'm wrong who cares? So god doesn't allow me entry into his little nude titties and free beer place (heaven), first thing I would think of is mm some shitty god you are. Forgiving my ass and second what the hell is the devil going to do to me? Kill me again? No can't do. Torture me? riiight, like the devil wants to torture all the evildoers.......don't make me laugh.
