Hey All!

Just have a question about MP3 ripping.. I've been using MusicMatch for the longest time now, but would like to look at something else (free, if possible). I have Nero6, but I've not tried the MP3 ripping features yet. Also, what settings does everyone like (bitrate, etc..)

You can also use real one. Its pretty fast and easy to use.

try http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

best of all its free so no gay "plz register" crap

as for settings 128 is usually the standard but you can pump it up to 192. 192 is pretty much the recommended rate right now. hell you can even bring it to 256 or 320 but then HDD space might become a problem. it depends on what type of speakers or headphones your using. if using lil 5 watt shit speakers, you dont need anything above 128, but if you have very good headphones or speakers equipped with tweeters and all, id recommend above 192.

well actualy for all of its crappyness...the burning feature of real one isnt all that bad. its when you try to play music or do anything aside form burning that it crashes itself

Well, software I have right now is Nero 6 Ultra Edition (guess I should just try it's features out) and Music Match 7. I kinda want to upgrade to 8, but money.. EHEHE

What exactly are some specifications of a program you would like to upgrade to? To my opinion, anything that burns Cds works...

Well, mostly im just checking out what other people use and what they rip (settings) to get an idea of what is best. Currently I'm doing 160kbps

hard drive space is cheap :D i do atleast 192kbps MP3 (or 128kbps WMA). if i need it to fit on my MP3 player it can always be reencoded. i like CBR better than VBR.

oh, and the best method (by far) seems to be ripping the tracks to uncompressed wav then encoding them to MP3 using LAME (i find it REALLY tedious, so i don't do this myself). but it seems to sound the best according to the more acoustically inclined.
