I just ordered a set from NewEgg.com and THEN looked at the Klipsch forums. Bad idea. It seems that almost 2 out of 3 fail within the first year if not more. Does anyone have this system??? If so do you like it and have you had problems with it?

they probably have a warranty on em...so u could rma em and get new ones or they would fix em...so its cool
also
u should have bought the logitech 5.1 im pretty sure the z-680's... they are soo much nicer than them kip's and fuck kiplisch until they implement the digital input into them...thats something you need for quality 5.1 surround sound...analog just doesnt cut it...there is a difference... but im pretty sure kips have digital 5.1s out im not sure yet...oh well...

I have the set and they kick ass!!! If you can get a set to work, I would recommend buying them! The analog/digital isn't a prob. These sound better than most high-priced digital systems!
Oh, the only prob is that the control tower is a little jumpy but you get used to it... i don't even notice it anymore! Heh, heh, contradiction anyone?

digital is not neccessarily better than analog. some say analog sound more natural because it doesn't have to be pieced back together; the signal that is recorded is the signal that will be reproduced. digital, on the other hand, must be reconstructed. just a counterpoint....

i, for some reason, prefer analog over digital. It's all about personal taste. Whadda you prefer sushi?

Analog is cool as long as I am talking to someone.. hehe.. Digital all the way.. get an inspire 5.1 5700 if u can and ur life will be in peace.. but it will also cost u 300 bucks or maybe its cheaper now.. 200 bucks.. better yet get a sony 7.1 system.. those puppies are cheap compared to what they offer.. they even have a DVD player with them and u can get ur tv, computer, projector and all the fucking shit in ur home connected to them..
it will cost u around 800 bucks.. but once spent ur life will be in peace for a LONG LONG time i tell ya!..
also logitech z-680 is good enuff for a small room or something.. i particularly didnt like the sound compared to creative inspire..

i prefer digital. i figure if the source is digital (dvd, cd, etc...) then the digital signal should be preserved as far as possible. but i think when it comes to multimedia computer speakers....it hardly makes a difference. and i would have assumed the inspires sound better in small rooms, seeing how they have less power to the drivers. kinda like BOSE....

inspire does sound great in small rooms but compared to logitech z-680 they sound a lot better and there is virtually no voice distortion due to increased volumes.. logitech speakers were sounding like torn flappers off a woofer.. and as far as bose is concerned.. i dont like them at all.. they are too small for my standards and just dont deliver.. better is always to get a nice sound system with surround (4.1 or so and a 4800W pmpo) and u can fire off ur digital media too..

whaddabout Klipsch? You forgot about Klipsch! Just curious about what others think! Klipsch. Heh, heh. Cool name.

yeah, logitechs tend to be quite heavy on the bass. but i think the major reason for their reputation is the price to performance ratio. $150 for 400w 4.1 sound (z-560's); it's not gonna get much better than that. i've always advocated for altec-lansing 641's though. MUCH crisper sound. don't know why u need a 200w sub in the first place. even my home stereo sub isn't 200w.....

Yeah I spent about 700 on my system. I got a home audio surround 5.1 with a bose sub all with 700 watts (200 to the sub) and damn is it loud. DVDs are kickass, I'm sad to say, Im not happy with the reciever, which is RCA and I do need an upgrade in that area. By the way all of this is hooked up using a single optical monster cable from my Audigy deck to the reciever. It was worth it, I just need to upgrade the reciever.
DIGITAL ALL THE WAY!!

I like my Klipsch 5.1's better than all by the highest end Bose speakers costing several times as much in regards to sound quallity.
The only bad thing about the Klipsch's is sometimes it doesn't like some types of music such as by Korn. It just doesn't sound that great. Does anyone know why perhaps?

March 30th, 2003, 12:42 PM
well......if u could try and explain what exactly happens, then we'll try and figure out how to fix it. distortion, maybe?
anyway, not to insult the man with the BOSE, but they're all advertising, and, while good for confined areas, saying your 5.1's are better than any BOSE isn't sayin much; even OEM speakers can claim that :) (an insult towards Bose, not klipsch)

The Bose speakers are really overated. They really don't sound that good especially for the price. I personally think the packaging is gimmicky. Those tiny little cubes not only look weak, but they are. By trying to sell tiny little speakers that sound almost as good as larger ones for an inflated price, I think Bose has made a huge mistake.
sushi128
March 30th, 2003, 04:59 PM
all that is true, but really, i'm not gonna put tower speakers, in say, a dorm. bose would be nice cause they really do give good sound for their size (not for their price).
Freakonaleash89
March 30th, 2003, 06:19 PM
Yeah I guess for that they are pretty good. But do they even sell a regular ultimate performance system that isn't tiny?
sushi128
March 30th, 2003, 06:45 PM
lol, the claim is that their acoustimass module can simulate the effect of even the larger systems, and the little reflecting speakers can direct noise in an even GREATER field than the larger systems.
riiiiiight.....so this thing:
http://www.bose.com/images_global/td_doublecube.jpg
is just as good as this thing:
http://www.klipsch.com/images/productmedia/large/459_large.jpg
i'd say bose is trying to stick to what they're good at; marketing.
oh, and i used the reference 3's cause i use those babies :D

I would love to have a set of Klipsch Reference Series....
I couldn't agree more Bose is good at marketing but not at delivering products. Their headphones suck too they have this one $150 set of cans that sound worse than my $20 Optimus Pro 25s. And I was listining to music that I know on the same CD player.

they're an awesome set. i'm actually using a BA sub right now with them, but i'll be replacing it soon with maybe an RSW 10 or 12. and i swear to god, when i dig up the cash, i'll be gettin a pair of these surrounds:

man.......i simply can't wait....

Im not that proud of my system. I do like the sub (got it for free, grandma said it was too loud haha) and it is damn loud. The thing about bose, is their tiny ass speakers produce great sound at their size (the sub I have is 5" and sounds like a 12") I agree about the cube speakers, they arent that good. I do however have two sony mid tower speakers, standing on a board (the board is held up by 2 dorm chairs) with my monitor in the middle and a center speaker on top. not to mention the two rear channels on the window sil behind me.
by the way, yes it says 20-200 watts on the rear of my bose sub.
and the ACOUSTIMASS module is the sub(they mean that when
they say module, not the whole system) which does in fact simulate a bigger powerful sub...I can hear it in the diff from my friend's sub down the hall.
The only real way you get the full potential of a bose system is by having all ur little cubes (like 20 of them) setup within the room, that way its nice and accurate lol...exagerating calm down guys

20 Bose cubes would sound really nice. Imagine if it was 20.2! That would be awesome!!!
