Just bought the game, and opened up the box and I must say I'm usually not that excited about extra materials included with game packages, but the stickers/packaging design is really outstanding with this one. Took me back to my crackerjack box days. (ooh shit a kaleidoscope!) It's almost felt like opening up a press kit. I'd like to see more companies include stuff like fan art/supplemental materials and stuff like that w/ games. (no price gouging either:))

Not too thrilled about the 5gb installation however, but i digress. Great stuff from Epic, Digital Extremes & Atari.

I looked farken everywhere for the special edition...couldnt find it. If i had pre-ordered it i would have it but i cant/shouldnt use my card online(damn debit card)

but yeah the stickers are nice
I did think it was odd how they packeged everything. IWht one cd in a cd holder type thing and the others in the right side in a pull out thingi.

The DVD version just has one DVD case, 2 DVDs inside the case, and the headset in the box. Its also a rather large box theres a metal casing on the outside, which mine has become fucked up and bent to hell and back, but the 1 DVD was nice to install and not worrying about 6 fucking CDs was nice. The bonus DVD has a few interesting things on it but nothing to great. Its shows a lot of shit from the Epic crew that created UT2004 and its cool just too see the things they go through when creating a game, makes me look forward to the future in developing games myself.

After a short consideration I have purchased a usual CD version. Why? Here are my reasons:

1. I already have a perfectly working headset with mike.

2. If I will require tutorials and any other extra material, internet will provide me with such content.

3. And most importantly I am not bothered/stressed by a 5 CD installation. Yes there are 5 installation CDs and 1 play disc.

So I considered paying extra for only metal box unnecessary.

Personally could never understand the people bothered by several CDs installation procedure. So what if its several CDs, if it gets the job done right everything else is irrelevant.

Other than the storage space DVD's are also faster.

16x DVD = 21MB/s

52x CD-ROM = 7800KB/s

16x DVD = 21MB/s

52x CD-ROM = 7800KB/s I was perfectly aware of that common fact. So my previous comment still stands. But I suppose it's all about personal preference and how impatient a person is.

No need for the rolling eyes. I simple "I knew that" would of been enough. ( )

If I ever get enough money and can find the DVD version I'm gonna get it. I'd rather install faster and from one disk than have to juggle 6.

You'd be surprised how many people don't know these common, obvious facts.

I for one hadn't memorized the exact data rate of either the CD-Roms OR the DVD drives.

I got my DVD version for $40 it was the same as the 6-disk version. On E-bay some dumbasses are trying to sell it for $60+ one was $100  Just plain sad.

my dvd edition was 40 with a 10 dollar mail in rebate if you have ut2003 so thats 30 bucks. I've watched some of the tutorials and they are great. For 30 bucks im glad i got the dvd version.

Yep, thats the main reason why I got the SE version instead of the orginal, same price, more stuff and I also received a $20 rebate. so really I only end up paying $20 for the SE.

the game was 49.99 cnd at EB...i had a 50$ gift certificate there so all i paid was the taxes: 7.50$ then theres the 10$ mail in rebate if you have 2k3, so basically i would have bought the game for a whopping -2.50$, actually making profit off this one, but it appears the rebate is useless up here in Beer 'n' Beaver land.

In America they are, Atari fucked other countries on the prices.

I'm happy with the DVD, and the cool metal displayable box I didn't pay extra for, the fast installing DVD's and the exclusive tutorials.

DVD is alot better than normal CD coz it installs things very quickly , i liked the idea in UT 2003 also and UT 2004 in DVD is a must for me

I do not mind swapping CDs, If a game takes half a day to install so be it. It only happens once and as long as only 1 play disk is needed It's all cool.
Is the SE version still available?
**EDIT**
I NEED TO KNOW!!

the SE version is now avaliable at gamestop (probably the last 10 left avaliable through a retail source on the planet). get it quick:

www.gamestop.com

it's where i preordered from.

lemme tell ya, i will definitely be watching the 60+ hrs of tutorials when i get the time, and the shiny box will have the honor of being the only box i've ever kept.

I didn't know computer games could ejaculate.

seriously though, I think the game is out either the end of this week or the end of the month.

I got the game its damn fun too. Anyway there are preliminary talks with Atari and Epic to release the tuts to the public who couldn't get the Special DVD version. I would like to see them maybe release it on a limited run DVD that they can sell at game retailers. I've read there were some never before released tuts on the DVD vid that came with the game.

I got it yesterday. Lame-ass metal packaging. It's not even THAT shiny. Nice tutorials though, they teach you everything bout the unrealED. The logitech head piece mic works well but it could be louder.

I'll take a guess and assume you're Canadian.
'Cause in the U.S. it's 49.99 which is like $62.99 CDN, at futureshop, they have it for 39.99 which is like a discount right now.
