Wow, I could look at this for hours. This is so beautifull. I wonder the colors are actually like this or if they just did that to make it look more clear. As they sometimes do when they show close-ups of micro-organisms or viruses.

Some samples I came across (click to enlarge):

One word: Heavenly

that's really beautiful. now this is stupid: NASA ( or maybe its some other org cause NASA wouldn't want to do this) is thinking of bringing down the Hubble space telescope becuase they say maintaining the telescope costs too much and is very risky because people have to go up there to work on it. Why on earth would some body be dumb enough to even think about bringing down Hubble? its the greatest thing we have.

Prolly because they say maintaining the telescope costs too much and is very risky because people have to go up there to work on it.

The music makes it cheesy,
But even that degree of cheesiness
Can be overlooked when one considers
The beauty of the pictures.
Amen.

they arnt going to bring it down(at least no plans to do so curently) they are just going to stop sending repair teams to it and let it desentigrate on its own. If it poses soem sort of threat/problem when it finaly decides to come down they will make a decision then about whether to scrap it or let it burn up and crash somewhere(like canadia)

Now that would be cool, but people would just bitch and complain about a newer one also. Blah blah blah waste of money, I hate people like that they should go shoot themselves.

I know, but there is always negitive nellys that want it to goto the economy and education and what not. I want to have a new telescope, what they need to do is build a very wide one so it gets better resolution.-

But yeah, more money should be spent on exploring space and less on wars...

without war, space exploration of today would be what it was 40 years ago... so why don't you shut up... ok?

What I meant was that too much money is spent on the military, and you shouldn't cut spending on space exploration for a new way to kill lots of people even more efficiently...

and again... the rockets that were developed to kill more ppl faster were also used to send ppl in space... same technology...

I don't think they should bring it down, but the US government doesn't really give a damn what I think.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3582433.stm

Oh yeah, and the replacement? It sucks.
The successor to Hubble - the James Webb Space Telescope - is not due for launch until 2011 at the earliest, and it will not have Hubble's ultraviolet capability. I thought things are supposed to improve over time.
