Well I would have just not done the whole sheets thing, and said I forgot. My mom would be pissed at me but she would soon forget.
Second, she really should let you use the damn dryer. That's what the damn thing was made for. They are pretty expensive to run though, compared to other appliances.
Thirdly, Downfall's idea about the starch is fucking brilliant.
The chores around my house kinda suck too. Here's the shit I do: take out the trash, do almost all the laundry (I use the dryer though), and take care of the lawn. I don't maintain the gardens, but I do everything but that. NONE of my neighbors do any kind of yardwork outside, they have it hired done and it kinda sucks that I have to do it but it does save a little money.
I don't really have any responsibillities besides that, but I do try to help clean stuff up around the house sometimes. My mom doesn't work so I don't really feel obligated to do too much considering she is home most of the time.

Most of my friends don't even mow the damn yard. And others get their asses worked off all the time and never get any peace at home because of all the work and they don't even get any allowance.

When I still lived with my folks I also had full time bitch activities. Its part of life. Worst is when you're sitting down playing some really intense game and your mother starts calling.
Mom: "Blah blah blah, dishes, blah blah..."
Me: "But Maaah, I'm watching the cutscene and I can't pause"
Mom: "BLAH BLAH BLAH, DISHES NOW, BLAH BLAH, TELL YOUR FATHER, BLAH BLAH BLAH"
