View Full Version : New Forms Of Punishment

Can someone help me figure it out? I don't want the whole uproar bitch cry because people don't know what a "temp ban" is. People seem to think a "temp ban" is a "perma ban", so I'd like a way to punish someone without everyone getting all pissed off.
This is to be punishment for things that aren't a big deal. Possibly they wouldn't have access to the section of the forum that they broke the rule in for an amount of time?

The best way to deal with it would be to send a Ninja Assasin to the the persons house... Umm... On second thought, that's not a great idea.
I don't see anything wrong with a temp ban, everbody is just overreacting.

How about we move the forums to an Invision Power Board, it has more moderation powers, and a warning system. Plus it has 3 other ways of banning, I think there is also a suspension method.
I like the forum section bannings, but then some might just complain in the other sections.

Maybe there is a way to say "temporarily banned", instead of just "banned" under the avatar thingy. Is this possible?

maybe from now on vote if someone should be temporarily banned instead of making the decision yourself

or atleast see what other people think before banning him like in bxx's case.

I make the decisions, and I don't just make them spastically. You can see that I actually think through my decisions before acting on what I'm saying because I'm not silencing your dumbass. If I were abusing powers, or "banning people because I don't like their threads", then why aren't you gone? Stop being a little bitch, and shut up.

A pure democracy would never work in a forum enviroment like this.

Thats right, your the mod and you can do anything you want, but please consider other people, like the entire Atrip forum goers, and what they want. There are obvious reasons to ban people, but in bxx's case that just was NOT one of them. Why wouldn't you vote on it? Why not? What if 30 people said no but you and 3 others said yes to ban him, which is probably a good estimate of what would happen, would u still ban him?

Shit man, its only a week. Think of it as a cooling off period. He did ignore a warning as Cr3am put it.
Besides that, there are only two methods of prevention that has been used: 1 week ban and permanent ban.

Maybe not, but I think we should try. Maybe a democracy wouldn't work, but we sure as hell better find something better than what we have. 1 vote per person. Doesn't matter, senior, regular, new, mod, or god. All = 1. That's how bxx lost in that poll, someone was worth more than 1, and I don't give a fuck who you are, that's pure bullshit. I wanted bxx to stay. Though I have a feeling if it had been 10 to 10 on the yes/no, my vote wouldn't have made any differance even if it was created by a mod.

Yeah I think most of us wanted bxx to stay I just think he should have listened to cr3am about the lube thing. It was getting so fucking old.

Is there no possible way to restrict the starting of new threads? Just have the users name have limitations, where he wouldnt be able to post new threads for a while and where he could only reply to a certain number of threads.
Smapdey
April 25th, 2004, 11:45 AM
I can make it so that someone can't start new threads, I think, hold on.

Don't you see cr3am? The thread was up for 10 minutes. ODM says he wanted to vote no, Downfall, and me. That would have made it 4v4.
*Edit*
Whoever had the idea to make it so people can't make new threads as punishment, good idea. :)

Cr3am, you aren't getting the damn point. The point isn't that ONE person was banned for ONE week after ONE warning, it's that that person was banned without good cause. So he made a redundant thread, who gives a fuck? Nobody forces any of you to look at any thread or click any link here. And the deal with the warning thing, so what. You say that it is alright if somebody argues after a rule is made, but what the hell is the point of arguing if nobody listens? Tell me that. Tell me honestly that if he had argued about not posting any more threads following the whole "lube" thing that you would have listened to a word he said? Hell no. You would just go on as usual. I think nearly everybody understands that bxx is only gone for a week, but all this is because he is gone for a week because you didn't like his threads.
I'm not trying to attack anybody, but this is getting fucking ridiculous.
