I voted Half-Life 2 mainly beause of the massive amount of mods that will come out for it. I have a feeling that HL2's single player might be a disappointment.

I voted for Half-Life 2 also. My very first FPS was Half-Life and I'm still playing it to this day. I have a very good feeling about HL2 single and multiplayer. Can't wait to see what valve has in store for us.
Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike 2, Team Fortress 2.... *drool*

I voted Doom III since I haven't played Half-Life 1, and I enjoyed Doom also.

I said Doom III. I really want to see if its gonna blow us away. Plus I really wanna see if they did anything with iddqd or idkfa ( those are the latest opengl pixel shader extensions just incase you were wondering ;) :p ).

I greatly respect the work of those certain two groups of developers. And anticipate both games equally eagerly. And no, I have not voted in the poll.

hard choice...HL2 willl most lilkely have an insane about of mods for it but Doom3 could get quite a few itself. I have been a doom fan since i was a kid..so ill go with doom 3

leaving the mods aside since they arent part of the core game... ill have to go with half life 2..... no, doom III
urg its hard to make up my mind. All i know is that the HL2 SP WILL blow us away cuz from what ive seen so far we're in for a treat. I just hope they managed to keep that HL1 feeling to it or else it could just fail. Doom III might be shorter but i cant wait to plug my comp on my big screen tv and sound system and shit my pants.

I voted HL2, sorry but playing Doom 1 again with pretty graphics really can't stand up against the fresh story of HL2. I'm sure Doom 3 will be an excellent game, make no doubt about that, but it just doesn't hold up to what HL2 will offer in terms of new story and content. I have a feeling like Doom 3 will be like the LOTR: EE or Director's Cut of movies. The original game but enhanced with new content and also some better graphics. I'm eagerly anticipating both though and will buy them on release day.

I demand you add KOTOR2 to the list! :D
Doom III for me.
I think the next SplinterCell should use the Doom III engine... with all those shadow and stuff.

Doom 3 isn't my option, but I will vote anything before I vote for Half-Life 2. I'm hating this game right now for their dishonesty. But maybe later when I'm in a better mood I will vote for Half-Life 2.

There is a reason I didn't put both, because I'm sure a lot of people like myself are waiting to play HL2 and Doom III. But if everyone voted for both, this thread would be pointless. And I could have added other games, but I'm sure the main showdown is between HL2 and Doom III.

Where's the "other" category?
Given the two choices, I'd have to opt for Half Life 2 as I've played Doom before, if you know what I'm saying. That may seem a bit harsh, but Doom III, to me, definitely has more to prove, and much more to lose this time around. If it's just more of the "room-corridor-room" syndrome, and just creepy stuff coming out of the dark tech/gothic-themed corners, then I don't really care how nicely-rendered everything is. In a sense, I've seen all that from id before, and I really don't need to see any more.
And, yes, I'd feel the same way towards vALVE if it turned out that HL2 consisted of yet another romp through the Black Mesa Research Facility, which thankfully doesn't appear to be the case.
Actually, the game I'm most anticipating would be S.T.A.L.K.E.R., so I didn't cast a vote.

HL2 all the way. I have a feeling Doom 3 wont be nearly as great of an experience as HL2 will be for me.

That would be cool if you end up back at Black Mesa during HL2, like the destroyed ruins of the facility, for say a level or two. Maybe that will be part of HL3.

Half-Life 2. The whole Orwellian thing fascinates me, and if it sets the mood right, it could end up being my favorite game of all time.

Actually I lied, but that was the only one I really enjoyed. I still started pretty late, my first was either doom, or duke nukem, can't remember which I played first.

My first person shooter was Doom, my mom didn't want me playin it cuz I was like 5 when it came out, but my dad let me play it anyway. My dad doesn't even play games anymore, he stopped at Quake 3 for some reason, when I started kicking his ass at it...

First I played was Wolf 3d on my families first computer back in 1993. My mom wouldn't let me play it until I was 11 so that was 1995 but I started then and haven't stopped since.
