Ok, I just popped a boner here. Let us discuss this:
What do we know? I think the company they chose was a good one. Are they continueing off of what was built? Are they re-making the game?

Prety sure they're starting from scratch, in a couple years when there's any real progress we can resume discussion. Yay.

Indeed. Until then, someone throw this thread into a time vault. :D

GameSpy: Finally, will Fallout 3 be from a first- or third-person perspective like the Morrowind series, or isometric, like its predecessors?
Pete Hines: Too early to say, but I imagine it'll probably lean towards using technology that we're developing.
________
IGNPC: Can we expect something similar to the work done on Morrowind, in terms of that style of game experience?
Pete Hines: Again, it's early to say, but it wouldn't be a leap of faith to say that we plan to use technologies in development otherwise. You could make some fairly safe leaps of faith that it would be similar in style. We're not going to go away from what it is that we do best. We're not going to suddenly do a top-down isometric Baldur's Gate-style game, because that's not what we do well.
Well fuck my ass, I somehow doubt they're developing a spiffy new engine for use with an isometric view.
And I guess that second quote kinda confirms it, that bums me out.

Seriously though, all I want is:
Fallout 2 with a direct x9 full 3d engine that would bring a X800XT/6800U to it's knees.
*Edit*
And some very gory ragdolls. :)

Visual doodads were never the strong point of the series, I hope they don't focus too much on that aspect.

What else is there to fix? :D
Jesus, it's like a fucking aim chat in here.

Man, looking at the Elderscrolls boards and NMA boards I've completely lost what little respect I had left for the "fallout fanbase", they're more radicals than fans. I'm just going to suck it up and try to enjoy whatever the fuck Bethesda throws my way.

I am in such agreement here, that I feel it necessary to post. Changing the style of Fallout too much will ruin it. It won't be the same game. To be a Fallout game, it needs to have the distinct feel and style of the first two games. If they can manage that, with a few upgrades here and there, I'd be perfectly happy.
PS Just pretend Future's posts on Fallout have two people agreeing [Shadow as well!] on the ideas when you read em, for emphasis.... I'm confusing myself here, so I'll just go.

My stance: If it has the word "Fallout" on it, I want it.
I cant seem to make up my mind on the whole thing. Part of me is happier than WGARA in an elementry school and the other half wants to go jihad on the game industry.
Maximus has the right mindset for this delicate turn of events.

I'm not sure, but I don't like the idea of Fallout having the same camera views as Morrowind did. All I know is I will be pissed off if they fuck up this new Fallout.

look at the history of game and, have they fucked up good old titles?? not once, but a many time. they should stick to the gameplay style of the 2 first, and give us a BIG BIG BIG GAme world, and a good Story, and the name Fallout, thats all the cookie i need.

Why must all new games be flashy and be all pimped up graphics wise? I mean fallout wasn't great in the graphics department when it came out, why should it be now? I LOVED Fallout because of it's story and atmosphere. I say up yours to anyone who thinks the Fallout series needs a new "pimpier" sequel.

I don't want a pimpier sequel. I want Fallout 3. If that means they can do it with amazing graphics, all the better.

What direction would you like to see Fallout go? Using Fallout 2 as a template for size and scope would be perfect, as Fallout 2 is just big enough to get you lost in for a long time yet small enough that you can flesh out a living world and scratch below the surface when it comes to adding all the little details that make Fallout so immersive (remember, that was your biggest mistake with Morrowind, Bethesda...think big as in detail, not landscape!). Maybe move the setting to the Northeast US (ok, I'm a bit biased) or Europe?
I think the key for them to pull this off is that they need to stay as true to the originals as possible (duh! obviously!). They'll need to include every single "feature" that Fallout fans will expect, no matter how big or small. Neglecting or "steamlining" any part of the game and we will see Deus Ex 2, round two.

I pray to Ronald McDonald they don't have one huge land mass, that would be retarded as hell. The world map rocks my socks, they need to keep it, or die.

And miss out on Fallout 4? Hehe, if I ever held a knife to Jesus' neck, one of my demands from God would be that he made sure a Fallout 4 would be made.

graphics wise i dont care if it stays the way FA2 was, but graphics around the NWN mark would be fine.

Yeah, the map was an awesome idea with the randomly generated battle and such.

The most important thing they have to keep, is the little things that let you know you're playing in a world that used to be a civilization like we know now. Things like ghosttowns, towns with old broken down factories for instance or a half burned down church. Old relics that remind you how it was before the blast. That builds atmosphere, and that's what makes the Fallout games so damn kickass!
O and thnx guys for the welcome and all!

Never played Fallout, will it work on XP if I go and buy it? Do the stories from the two games ijntertwine so I have to play one and then 2 to understand what's going on?

It'll run on XP, I just reinstalled it 2 weeks ago and it's fine. Best part is barely any load time with the current technology.
There are 2 characters (3 if you count Dogmeat at a secret area) that play a role in the 2nd game that had parts in the 1st. There are also references here and there to Fallout 1 in the sequal, but they are subtle and generally ment to make you go "oooh yea, I remember that" if you played the original. You might as well play the Fallout 1 first because it will just make 2 that much better and more familiar. Plus, Fallout 1 is pretty short and once you play through it once and know what to do, you can sit down and play it start to finish in a couple hours.
