AAAHHH No ammo

On doom3 is it just me or is there a lack of shotgun and machinegun ammo at first?:( i keep on having to resort to the pistol which has like 200 bullets but the shotgun and machinegun seem to be empty most the time. is it me or is the game ment to b like that?

well i know i didnt run out of Shotgun ammo... but you know there are dark corners, behing boxes, on top of shit, there is a lot of ammo, and you know trying to draw smily faces on the wall with the machinegun can waste ammo too...

but in the start its easy to kill mellee zombies off with the pistol ( so you would keep shotgun/mg ammo for other dudes )

Yeah, that'd be the general plan for the most part. If it's an easy guy, why waste good ammo on it? Come on, pop in Eye of the Tiger, and start punchin those damn zombies. You can take 'em!

Yeah, look around the corner and behind boxes. Also, pay close attention to those personal PDA you would find along the way. They gives you the code for the storage lockers.

i play at veteran and rarely run out of ammo (cept on the bfg, minigun and other big guns)

just make every shot count. early on you'll have little shotgun and rifle ammo but later on you'll be mostly using your shotgun since ammo is abbundant.

heres some tricks:

pistol: use it on zombies and other low priority targets.

shotgun: use it in tight areas only, the spread is too big. i love to use it on imps by running at them avoiding their fireballs and shoving one shell right in their nose. its also good against zombies, maggots and the teleporting imps. avoid using against overwhelming trites or lost souls or else you'll find yourself reloading in the middle of a gangbang.

rifle: good for medium-long range fighting. aim for the head, it does make a difference. good against commandoes running at you or basically any type of small, far away creatures.

chaingun: good against large bunch of tougher enemies. excellent at medium range but loses accuracy at long range. i like to use it against cacodemons.

grenades: good against anything and pretty abundant early on. use them in any corner you know a monster is hiding. also good at smothering pinkies and commandos.

plasma gun: great against any strong creature. avoid using against fast moving targets though or else you'll miss them and ammo for this gun is pretty scarce. pretty good against revenants cuz the plasma eats away it's rockets.

rocket launcher: once again, great against any strong creature but bad against fast moving targets. ammo for this is also scarce. you can also use the splash damage at your advantage. ususally the best solution against mancubus, hellknights, revenants, etc.

BFG: mother of all guns, extremely scarce ammo, keep it for bosses or very hard areas. (like the two hellknights in delta4). dont forget to charge it for full effect.

chainsaw: great and fun to use on zombies and lost souls (make sure you aim properly)... kinda useless against the rest as you'll take hits before you can kill anything.

soul cube: once you kill 5 creatures, use it on a strong enemy to kill it instantly and send your health back to the max.


i usually keep my rifle out most of the time, or the shotgun in more confined and darker places. just memorize the weapon switching keys and you can quickly switch to the right weapon to kill the right enemy.

thanx for the advice. iam right near the beggining alpha 1 or wotever labs so it might just be that but i am starting to find more i aint played it since posting so i aint been on the lookout.

Alpha one! I hadn't even used my shotgun and Machine Gun at that stage. Well besides testing them out. No wonder you're out of ammo.
IMO you have two options, cheat or restart the game.

I used my shotgun as soon as I got it. I always found ammo in corners. I pretty much used nothing but the shotgun. I hated the way the pistol and machine gun sounded so much that I refrained from using them.

yeah i agree...the pistol sounds lame...the weapon sounds from HL and Farcry are really amazing...wish doom3 had some like that...

It sucks on doom3 i went and run out of ammo on alpha labs 3 the bit with the three pinky demons.it sucks so iv got to start the level again which sucks how far am i from the end T THAT POINT?
