I've got an ok computer (I can play diablo 2 but not warcraft 3), and I was thinking of either buying a computer game or a gamecube game, but I don't know what game to get... (no remarks about gamecube please)

Two questions: how much is it, and is it a system hog?

if u cant play warcraft3, i reckon u not buy it. cos freelancer and warcraft3 aint too much difference in support. i mean my comp exceeds the requirement of warcraft3 and freelancers. i need to play WC3 without sound so it wont hang or crash. but i cant play freelancer at all. dats just goes to see...
better be careful dude. i'm not saying ur comp is as bad as mine but be careful

Half-Life. Can't be anything else...
well, Odm, why don't you give us your specs in details so we can determine if the games in our mind really suit your need? Half-Life shouldn't consume too much system resource so I would say all the mid-ranged games can handle that...
If you like RTS, Age of Empires II is a good choice, too. That is one of my favorite games aside from Homeworld. AOK can run smoothly even on a low-end system.
StarCraft is a good choice, too...
Sorry if it sound like I'm giving you old games, but if your thing can't even handle WarCraft III, I wouldn't play anything too fancy on it, and most of the good games, for some reasons, needs a good machine, too...

your computer won't play freelancer. i'd say a GF2 minimum, and the TNT2 isn't gonna cut it. i don't know many new games that will run on a TNT2, so u may have to resort to the games from last year or maybe the ones before....

hmmmm.....let me think, yeah I don't think Freelancer would work on your comp, WC3 would be a little laggy :( because most games now need pretty beefy machines you'll have to look around. you might want to think about the gamecube idea however :D

I would save that game money to get more ram and a new video board.

This is why the console market is booming, lack of specs...
Anyways, I'd reccomend:
Wind Waker
Metroid Prime
Super Mario Sunshine
For Cube, if you mainly play it alone.
