i tried to put an avatar under my name but it said The file that you have tried to attach is too big. The maximum size is 9000 bytes.

but i had it as 80 by 80???

If your little picture has too much detail the filesize will be too high aswell. It's not just the size of the picture that causes the filesize to grow.

Got ACDsee? If you do select "Save as." and click on options, there you can select less detail. Voila. I don't know how else to do it. Making sure you have JPG instead of BMP or GIF saves a lot of time :D
