I'd say the same thing that I say to anyone else, but make it a little more personal.

The truth: My best friend growing up had a kid about 5 years ago. His g/f was an ex-heroine junkie that turned to alcohol for rehabilitation. The kid came out missing a fucking hand but they knew that before it was pushed outta her fat, heroine ridden twat. I stopped talking to him completely because 1) his g/f is a scumbag. 2) he has a kid and I hate children. 3) his kid is fucked up looking and I dont want to see it.
This dude was an amazing student when it came to studies, but when it came to women he was totally inept. He's 19 and meets a 28 y/o recovering junkie whore bag that gives him the time of day and lets him dump his seed into her whenever he wants. 3 months later, she's puking....and it's not heroine withdrawl this time. Instead of punching her in the gut and flushing the fetus down the toilet, he decides to throw his own life in the shitter and drop out of school to work, take care of the baby, and fuck his dirt hole slut of a g/f. Last I spoke to him was about 4 years ago, he's been written the fuck off. There, that's off my chest.....I havent been able to vent that because he was the only person I had to talk to about things that bothered me that actually had decent advice to give. So, in the end, I'm not an asshole because I have no experience in 1st hand dealings with fucked up situations like little no-face, but because it's affected me in the past. If ya cant laugh at em, fuck em.

If I were in that situation and I had the choice to either let the kid live or die, I think I would say let it die. I mean nothing deserves to be like that. Not even a dog or any animal. That’s just wrong, I would definitely not want any kid of mine having to go through 50 million types of surgery for their face. I think I would be doing the kid a big favor in ending it before it started and if anyone thinks differently I pity them. Just think about it, would you want your kid to have a life like that? It's kind of interesting to read all of the responses you guys wrote pertaining to this story.

There seems to be quite a distinct line between those responding sympathetic and clearly bothered by this story and those making harsh and disrespectful comments. Looking at the profiles, that division of responses seems to correlate with the ages of the posters with an approximate division line occurring around the years of '83-'85.

This pretty much holds except for Trustkill, he's the anomaly that taints this ingenious conclusion.

Perhaps if that child had been born many decades ago, medical science could not have saved her, and even if it could...most doctors and parents, would have in a hush hush way, just let the child die at birth...it's not talked a lot about in the medical proffession, but it was a well known practice in spite of the doctor's oath to do no harm.

But, what a lot of you are not considering is medical technology that we have now days. Reconstructive surgery has come a long ways, and in fact there is a team of doctors here in the USA who will probably within a year or so, try the first face transplant ever.

When I was younger (I'm 41 now) it was huge news to hear about a open heart surgery...now you don't even hear about it in the local news....it's such a common procedure now, same thing with heart and lung and liver transplants. There are 20 people living in the world to day with hand transplants...something totally unheard of except for in sci fi novels, when I was a young teen back in the late 1970's.

I think that it's sad that the little girl will have to go through a lot of operations...but I don't think that just because of that they should have murdered her when she was born. Perhaps, as mentioned...decades ago it would have been kinder because there was no hope for fixing her problem....but not today, not with today's technology. Face transplants, from a donor body to a living person will happen and it will be happening soon, so its very likely this little girl will be able to have her face repaired some time in the near future.

Also, one more thing...they have done 'test' face transplants from one cadaver to another, and the doctors say that when the face is moved from one bone structure to another, it no longer resembles the donor's face....so it won't be heart breaking for the family of the donor. No one woul see their dead son or daughter's face on someone else, because the underlying structures of the bone in the skull of the recipiant change the features enough to keep that from happening.

I think it would be just to disturbing if that didn't happen.

Just remember folks, all of ya are potentially a heart beat away from looking as bad as that little girl...all it takes is for one car accident, or a house fire, or cancer...and the horror becomes real. The thing is...do you wimp out and kill yourself or battle on and take everything life deals ya and fight back...do the surgeries, and go on.

I hope I nor anyone in my family has to every go through something like that or make that choice.

Kids these day are much crueler then when I was a kid. (I'm 30 now) My daughter and my brother's daughter are both in the third grade. My daughter comes home the other day and said that a boy in my niece's class called her a motherfucker. Third graders using language like that! When I was around that age, the worst thing that somebody could call you was a doody head. But this girl is going to go through 18-25 years of teasing, name calling, and being made fun of. She has no choice in what she looks like, but people who hold onto cruel thoughts do have that choice, and to me that is ugly.

As far as your arguement about her growing up to be a bitch... for pete's sake. Right now she's an innocent little girl, and that is all that matters. Besides, IF your read the article and watched the broadband video that was linked with it , you can see she has a loving caring family who was willing to take on the burdens of raising a child that is different from the norm. Her family also has friends who are supportive.

I have a hard time finding humor in someone else's misfortune...and I guess I have a more difficult time seeing which of you are serious and which are joking. That's not to say I don't upon occassion have a morbid/dark sense of humor...I just cannot direct it at little kids.

My sister is a drug addict and did drugs while she was pregnant, and I think this is one of the reasons why my niece is having some problems. By the time she was 3 years old, my niece started losing her hearing.

She just turned 8 years old last week, and I recieved news that she is now officially deaf without her hearing aids, and by this time next year, even those won't help her. There are no operations that can help her, as it's her nerves that lead from her ears to her brain that have died. Stem cell research could probably help her if our fucking government would get off their ass and start doing it...but that's a long ways in the future, and so now my neice as to grow up different from the other kids, and I'm sure she's going to be picked upon by assholes who think it's funny that she can't hear, or that her speach is a bit slurred due to the fact that she cannot hear her own voice anymore.

Some 'jokes' just are not funny to everyone.

I do like some of the jokes here by the way, that's why I keep coming back, several times, I've read stuff here that had me laughing out loud, and most of the time it was crude humor.

It's a sad story. I mean depending on your views, some might call it torture, others like Stormy, think its best to give it everything you've got. It really hard to know where to draw that line.
