Any one over here managed to quit an addiction? Anything from coffee to smokes, weed, chemicals etc.
I'm trying to quit smoking cos it's definatly fucking my health up. The other day I climb a piddly fkin flight of steps and I couldn't breathe properly once I reached the top.. Future man once told me cancer is the only way out. I hope not.....

I quit smoking about 5 times over the past 7 years.....never lasts more than 6 months though. Without it I punch things. Quitting things you enjoy is impossible, no matter what the health risks are.

I can tell you one thing that I've realised... as long as you still want to smoke, you will never quit.

I had chest aches etc. from smoking, and considered stopping, but instead I started to smoke 50% less and taken up going to a gym... and it actually started working... it's been 2 weeks now, and the chest pains are gone...

Yeah dude,you were practically there. Why did ya start again cos if you could quit for 6 months thats pretty fukin commendable.

that sucks - maybe the problem is not only smoking - if you excersize and eat healthy you can smoke without problems... there are actually a couple of top athletes that are regular smokers and they're not affected by it....

Yeah i know, but I don't get the time to exercise and the food in my office is so fkin sad my diet's gone off the rocker

I've kicked smoking on and off since I was 14, but lately I'm having an awful time and start panicking if I don't have a pack in my shirt pocket. The habit makes me feel pretty shitty if I'm just sitting here all day, but it doesn't bother me too much when I run and work out.

Good for you... Keep trying even if you fail a few times because as long as you at least try you have a chance of kicking that habit.

Also congratulations to the other's here who have managed to put them cigs. down.

I have a friend who smoked since she was 16 and at age 45 she finally managed to quit and that's been 5 years ago. She went cold turkey...just put them down and didn't pick them up again. She says she has no idea why that time it worked...but it did.

I'm 41 years old and never smoked...but I do remember the day my friends and I tried it. After my first drag...I coughed, couldn't breath and had to run to the bathroom....my friends laughing at me the whole time.

I came back from the bathroom and told them I wasn't taking another puff. They really tried to get me too and I told them if my body reacted that bad to it I wasn't going to do it again. I might be stupid once, but not twice.

Most of them ended up as smokers, and I really feel bad for them because they, after a few years, wished they had never started. It's an expensive habit both money wise and health wise.

Maybe most of you all don't feel that fucked after smoking is cos you all live in the States or Canada or Oz. Over here the pollution fucks you big time too, I read this stats some where, one day in Bombay is like smoking 7 smokes..... Fuck

I smoked cigarettes for a little a while back. I never did it long enough to really get hooked though. I use to smoke weed almost everyday. Then I just felt bored with it and just stopped. I use to do a lot of shit and tons of my friends got addicted but I never really did. I guess I don't have an addictive personality.

i can stop smoking if i want, but then i have to put up with my respectful friends who smoke in my face.... :\

overall, just like NiteX...i don't think im an easely addicted person. I smoke weed too but i dont feel an urge to smoke my daily joint. As for cigarettes, some times i can go days without smoking simply if i occupy myself and dont think about it (that is... when i ditch my friends)

Weed isn't chemically addictive like alcohol, cigarettes or coffee even. You won't feel any withdrawl symptoms if you never smoke it again ( other than your own conscious want to get high of course ;p ). One of the other reasons why its so lame that alcohol is legal and weed is not :/

I haven't had a drink in 2 weeks now. That's a long time for me... I'm working on maintaining a healthy body, and I've quit drinking by myself. Last night I really wanted a drink, but I only had 4 hours of sleep in me so I convinced myself it was the tiredness talking. No drinks.

Well I think Stormy has covered most of it but guys don't get fooled by thinking that working out while still smoking is a good formula necessarily. When you smoke you clog up your lungs and get them diseased. By working out you only taking out some symtoms. I can best describe it as breaking your arm and then drinking alcohol. You're numbing the pain but your arm is still shit.

But good luck to yall. If everyone has a hard time with it, it can't be easy.
