So far the game is very sub par. Sure I can understand that they dumped the GFX down for multiplayer and it is a beta. But even so it is highly unimpressive. Low poly models, lack of adequate post processing and just plain low res. textures, the whole shebang.
Ehh, anyway. Out of all the screens I took, this one is the only one worth showing...

also the spys are underpowered. every game i played i won as the Merc. but when I became the Spy I got screwed
wtf, look at this dude's preview of the MP beta
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/splintercell3/preview_6117033-2.html
is he on drugs??
"Visually, the multiplayer looks very sharp. The new lighting and shadowing engine seems to be in effect, and the cool silhouette effects that we saw in the single-player E3 demonstration are also at work in multiplayer."
I bet he hasnt played Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow. if he thinks those lighting and shadowing are new additions to the game then he must be high

I'm not impressed with the looks or anything, but more importantly I wasn't thrilled with the gameplay. The only thing that made it fun was playing with TSB for a few rounds last night, other than that it's boring.

1. You suck at playing spy, get over it.
2. The lighting and shadows are new. Pandora Tomorrow used stencil shadows, this one uses the same kind of shadows that are in Perimiter and will be in BF2 (I forgot what they are called). The lighting engine has also been improved a bit, though it's not that noticable.
Gameplay wise it's the same as PT, which means it's only fun when you play with friends or non-idiots. I like how the new map is a bit less cramped than the PT maps.

1. maybe so
2. ok well it seems the multiplayer version of the game is gonna run on a modified version of the SC PT engine. but the Co-op and Single player is gonna be using the new engine :o

There is no Splinter Cell engine, all of the SC games use a modified version of the Unreal engine. Single player and Co-Op are using the same engine as MP, but MP has been stripped of normal mapping and procedural textures. It still has the real-time shadows though, which is nice.

I wouldn't call the camo suit a weapon. You have to hold down the right mouse button while it's selected to activate it because just pressing the right mouse button quickly makes you throw down a grenade.
Mercs have a Shotgun and an Uzi. I don't know if either of them are new though, I haven't played PT for a long ass time.
I'm not disappointed by the graphics, but I really wish they would of kept the Night Vision DOF effect that was in PT because it was totally kickass. The new shadows look a lot better than PT's stencil shadows.

And Swat 4, DX: IW, Tribes: Vengeance, and many other games. The Unreal engine is like the most licensed engine next to Quake 3.
I just had the best two games of SCCT ever. Two non-idiot Spies Vs Two non-idiot Mercs = WINNAR.
One of the spies distracted me while another one suck up from behind a railing and pulled me over. Being killed has never been so awesome.
I love knocking a spy out and choking them for a sec while they are on the floor then bashing their skull in.
This game sure does have it's moments of awesomeness.

I was pointing out games that use the Unreal engine for full dynamic lighting. Not every Unreal powered game.

I'm not a big fan of the series, it's a pretty dumbed down game, but I will give this a try.

Apparently the SP/Co-Op game was developed by the original splinter cell devs and the MP mode is developed by the China studio that developed Pandora Tomorrow. According to what I've heard around zee net is that the MP mode is using the version of the Unreal engine that was used for PT and SP/Co-Op is using the new modified modified version of the unreal engine. It's all a bit sloppy.
To make it short n' simple:
SP/Co-Op = Sexay
MP = Not-so-sexay
I honestly think the graphics look fine either way, but I guess I'm just weird like that. I had a lot of fun with the demo when I was playing with non-idiots.
