I was just selected to beta test the game. But they charge $5 plus shipping to get the CD. I think the shipping method is a pain in the ass and that you should be able to download the beta for free. Especially since you are helping them in the development of their game. What do you guys think?

Welcome to the beta test... i've been in for a few months and i get some time to play now and then. Yes I think it does suck that we had to pay for the stupid cds. It's just sony they can't lose any money no matter what they do i guess. Anyway hope you have fun in the beta.

oh and as far as sites where you can sign up for beta you need to go to the games homepage and usually if they are accepting beta apps you can apply on the site. Other than that I don't think there is anywhere else you can apply.... well except ebay maybe.

Well up till about 2 weeks ago the game was more tedious than anything else. I really didnt play for fun only for focused tests. The game is coming along, but has a lot left to put in that was promised. When the NDA is lifted I will tell you all about it.

Hey yeah it is pretty fun, but i will tell you a couple things:

First dont believe the hype about the leveling treadmill being gone. True there are arent any levels, but now you just level up skills. So you stand around and shoot something and then ding...adv pistol part 2...ding part 3... etc. These levels dont really seem to do anything. Expect to camp in one spot killing critters, dancing, or healing people to gain skill levels.

Quests are lame right now. Consists of you running for 15 minutes and killing a bush that will spit out a bunch of rats. WTF

Oh and all the screenshots you see are really, really, really doctored up. I mean all the stuff you see doesnt really look like that in game. In fact it would be very difficult to play from that point of view.

Despite what sony has said this game does not cater to weekend warrior gamers. I can see the only way to be really successful in this game is to be in a big guild. You will need other players to make items and teach you skills, so basically make a huge friends list.

Even right now the game is very empty and sterile feeling. I think that there will be a lot more content come release, but I really dont see many huge changes happening. This game will be hugely popular because it is star wars, if it wasnt star wars i dont see it doing as well.

There are many positives in the game though. This game encourages player interaction. You really dont want to solo in this game. But this will be tough for the casual gamer. You can learn any skill you want and do many different kinds of things to gain experience. The cities are beautiful and the character models look pretty good. As it is right now though, I dont think I will be picking this up at release. I don't think that this game is the revolutionary masterpiece that the hype is making it out to be.

I think that I have violated the NDA enough for now, so delete this post if you want.

Im pretty sure thats just a Sony/Verant thing, every other beta i have been in was just a download also.

I can’t wait to show this to my roommate who is a giant SW freak.

We both signed up for the beta and agreed that if either of us got in, the other could play on the account. Well about 2 months ago I was accepted but there was a small problem. I was not able to sign in to my account to verify the acceptance. I still had the original email they had sent when I signed up that had my user name and password on it but for some reason it wouldn't go through. I tried putting my address in the lost password thing; it said my account did not exist even though I just got my acceptance email at that address. Needless to so say I was plenty pissed and wrote then an email telling them so and for them pull their heads out of their collective asses, get my situation straightened out and get my ass in the beta. I never even got a response and neither did my obsessed roommate who wrote them an email in my name every day for the entire two weeks I had to respond.

I’m not upset anymore just disappointed in the whole thing. Come to think of it, I still have $10 tied up in a SWG pre-order that I think I’m going to apply to something else. Thank god somebody has enough balls to tell the truth about the damn game. I’m sick of it being compared to the second coming by people who are not even in the beta.

Well I think the reason I got in was because of the way I answered the questions maybe. But who knows it was probably random.

I am still thinking about not paying for it and just cancelling and letting someone else take my place. For me at 14 years old every dollar counts and I really don't have the time to invest to really being a good beta tester right now.

Hey I thought it was more like 11 bucks instead of 5. Well anyway I think it stinks that we had to pay for the beta cds.

Anyway before I was just mentioning the bad stuff. There are some good things in the game. Grouping is pretty fun, but can be kind of tough. I do like that you can group with anyone in the game and not someone at your "level".

I know that there will be many people that will love this game and will dedicate many hours of their lives to it. Sure it is Star Wars, but it doesnt cover up some of the bad gameplay aspects. I have played many MMORPGS in the past, except for the last couple of shoddy ones. I just don't really see much difference between this and those really. I think that I am just dissappointed that it wasn't revolutionary.

Yeah, I remember when XP was being released beta...I got into that, it was awesome to know I had it before alot of people. Still had to pay for it but hey..it was so gay back then..
It would restart your computer if it encountered an error...you had no choice but to close any running programs and then it would restart automatically. good thing they got rid of that.
and the damn send error report came up on everything, even if error didnt occurr!!
It was awesome tho, and fun to install, and try to work around.
Once it came out tho, I had the xp-pro the next day..

My mom and dad's computer with XP Home still does that. I have XP Pro on mine and it never has those problems though.
