View Full Version : Reviving a thread

TSB has this wager with me, for a dollar:

He brought back a thread from April 2003 with a stupid comment. The catch is that it was the third thread from the top of the forum's thread list. Is this considered a thread revival or not?

edit: no matter what the verdict, it's still a revival in my book = still against rules :p

If you don't want old threads popping up, lock them or delete them AND STOP BEING A NAGGY LITTLE BITCH.

Can I get a dollar? It could feed a South African family (between 2-8 adults, 5-20 kids) for a month.

So we get moderator owned when we revive an old thread, AND when we start a thread that's already been done before?

Revive:
1. To bring back to life or consciousness; resuscitate.
2. To impart new health, vigor, or spirit to.
3. To restore to use, currency, activity, or notice.
4. To restore the validity or effectiveness of.
5. To renew in the mind; recall.
6. To present (an old play, for example) again.

1, 3, 5 all prove my point that it's a revival. How could posting in a two year old thread not be a revival?

nineball16

if your that worried just make it so threads automatically become closed after a months inactivity

Well, if Smap or I want to change board policy, we'll do it. We don't hold a vote...

this thread is pointless, can we just agree that it only counts if it's disruptive.

We're not disputing the fact that it's a revival in the definitive sense. Our problem lies in that we disagree with it being a bad thing to revive a thread, as long as it's for reasonable purposes. There is a negative connotation here that keeps people from ackowledging the obvious.

if this has nothing to do with board policy, then my opinion being that reviving a 2 year old thread is the same as reviving a 1 day old thread. either way you are leaving a message which brings the thread up to the latest time and date posted
