NWN Probs

I realised I hadn't played NWN in quiet a while and had only begun on Chapter 2, so I pulled out my guide and loaded my old game (I'm not one for keeping track of all the quests and shit, so I use the guide). This was the first time I've played it on my new pc, I kept the save games from the old pc and loaded it on my new one.

Started the game ok, then I noticed that my hero's face in the upper right corner doesn't show (blank white space instead), nor those of my travelling allies. The icons are all there tho. When I check out my inventory I notice that most spells are blanks too. Everything else there is ok. Then when trying to enter some maps (cave, crypts, etc), the game crashes.

I thought it must be something to do with the game, so I d/l'ed the 84M 1.65 update, took 5-6 hrs. Installed it, problem still there, only this time the map loading crash doesn't occur, just hangs, so I have to alt-tab out of the game and kill it manually. Tried updating Nvidia drivers from 66.93 to 71.84, still no luck. Settings in game are maxed out. All other games run perfectly well. Visited the NWN forums, couldn't find anything there to help, might have to check back again later.

My pc specs are - AMD 64 3200+, 1G Kingston RAM, 6800GT, MSI K8N Neo mobo.

If any of you have any (possible) solutions, please let me know. Thanks! :D

The problem is most probably your old savegames, they could've gotten corrupted somehow.

Better to start a new game.

No idea whats wrong tho, if you started a new game and stuff like that happens.

I agree. The old save games, especially from one machine to another, could cause problem like that. You probably need to start a new game. See if your game workd with a new start.

Argghh... I just tried that, hoping it'd work. But nope, the bit where you choose your portrait was full of blank white screens :(

I might have to try a re-install then.

i was having problems with nvn too

everything would load correctly, but then when i go to play, all visuals would be fucked up. everything was colored differently, but it was still playable.

Well, I reinstalled the game, and it fixed the probs... only now I've got new ones! :mad: Experience points gained are screwed up, I only get like 2 or 3 when killing monsters, and I can't summon my bear now. Bloody heck!

Emmm....? Maybe your character level is pretty high and killing easy monsters such as goblins or rats now give you less xp...? And what do you mean that you can't summon your bear? You can only summon it once per rest, I think, depending on what class you play.

No, I was killing minotaurs and flesh golems, they should have been giving much more than 2 or 3 exp points, coz before that they were worth more. And I could only the bear thru the quick slot bar, couldn't do it thru the radial, it was greyed out (even if available).

Anyways, figured out what the prob was... it was the bloody patch. I don't know what caused the blank screens in the first place tho. So now I'm back in the game :D
