Does it always fuck up your skin that bad? It would really suck to be bitten in the face wouldn't it.

If you are bitten by any spider you should always catch and trap it.. if it turns out to be poisonous, in this case a Brown Recluse, call the Emergency room asap and you can get the antidope or vaccine for it. With the vaccine administered in time the most that you'll see is a scar, not some ugly deformed type infection.
Yeah I suffer from Arachnophobia and was surrounded by those Recluse spiders when I was in training down in the Carolinas.. better to be safe than sorry.

I really hate spiders, the little fuckers really creep me out. Great my state is completely covered. I have never seen one though. It looks like it actually melts your skin away.

I cannot explain how much it sucks to be an Arachnaphobe and to live in 1 Aus, and 2 the country.
Red backs suck
Thunnel Webs suck
White Tails Suck
And having a huntsman thread its way down the centre of the bathroom while your having a shower, Well and truly sucks.
Why does australia have to have the most venemous animals?

Being arachnaphobic sucks. I've got arachnophobia so bad that when I see a daddy long legs I make somebody kill it.

You've also go to see that these must be absolute worst case scenarios, I can't imagine that this is the average reaction to the bites.

At the end of the third link it has some info. Apparently it can range from a an adult thumbnail to the size of your palm...

Daddy long legs are actually more poisonous than a brown recluse, they just can't bite you.

Oh man, spiders are mighty fun. Over at my friend's dad's house, there's a horse ranch next door with shitloads of spiders. So we bought this fish tank, filled it with wood bits:
http://petshops.com.au/catalog/images/fishtank30cm.JPG
we put in a wolf spider:
http://www.uidaho.edu/so-id/entomology/wolf%20spider.jpg
two daddy long legs:
http://www.usq.edu.au/spider/find/spiders/images/508A10.jpg
and one black widow:
http://insects.tamu.edu/images/insects/color/wspid1.jpg
Well, within ten minutes the daddy long legs started webbing up the edges to make it climable. The black widow moved over to the wolf spider and started webbing the wolf spiders legs together, two at a time. The wolf spider didn't flinch until about the fifth and sixth were getting webbed. Then it started twitching like crazy, but it was too late, and the black widow finished the job.
By now, the two daddy long legs made their way to the top of the fish tank (yes, they were upside down) and started webbing up the entire roof of the damn thing. They were just kind of chillin' there, upside down. Left the little bastards alone for a while. When I came back the black widow was trying desperately to get up to the top, but I guess it kept slipping on the daddy long leg web or something.
So the next morning I check up on them and there's the black widow and nothing else. There was webs, wood chips, and the black widow. No sign of the daddy long legs.
We kinda noticed the black widow was a bit fat, and a few months later, when I went to his house again, we asked the next door neighbors whatever happened to the spider. Apparantly they went away for a couple months and that black widow laid a bunch of babies - babies that were small enough to crawl out of the holes on top. His entire bedroom was infested with black widows and he slept on the couch for months to follow, rofl.

My dad was bit by one of those spiders, right above his eye, near his eyebrow. First his eye got a little swolen, then it was humongous. Pink, puffy, it was nasty as hell. Then all of a sudden it started to turn black, and was like that for about one month before it healed. You can still see the marks where he was bit. Nasty suckers.
Spiders SUCK BUT centipedes are worse! They're some ugly, BIG, fast mofos.
btw, nice story cr3am, lol

Holy shit, I would never leave a black widow in the house, even in a sealed jar. I hate them passionately. Wolf spiders, just the little ones, really don't concern me that much but the black widows creep me out.

if you dont like spiders you should get a cat. cats eat just about any spider, lizard, mice, crawlys that get into the house. Since i got my cat i've noticed a significant decrease in infestations

If I had a black widow spider infestation I would clear out and go somewhere and have it all fogged out and all of them killed. I would also have the property surrounding my house treated against bugs before I would get anywhere near the house again.
