View Full Version : System temperature?

what is the safest temperature for a cpu and chassis when idle and active. no overclocking.

idle:
CPU: 42 C
Chasis: 38 C

gaming:
CPU: 53 C
Chasis: 39 C

are those figures safe?

specs:
P4 2.53ghz
512 DDR333
Geforce4 Ti4200 128mb ddr 8x

I think these babes are in fine shape. Mine system is always hotter than your figures and they never hang. It is good that you use C instead of F because I can't read F too well....

that's fine. if you were really into this stuff, i'd say that's way too high. but may it's just gettin hot around where you are.

Woah, that's SMOKIN'! Not that bad though If you aren't a cooling phreak. My sys temp is 35 normal, 36 gaming. CPU temp 40 normal, 43 gaming. And this is while the cpu is oc'd slightly (from 1450 to 1600mhz). It's all about the watercooling.

it's all about phase change cooling and pelts :)

prometeia goodness.....

You have prometia?! Wish I had that kind of money. :(

prometia hehe i read about that in tom's hardware, pretty extreme dont u agree? hehehe i really dont nid that much cooling since i dont overclock my system. i just nid something useful to cool my video card efficiently.

no, i used to have a vapor phase vapochill. looked a lot nicer than the prometeia, but i sold it (used the money to get my center channel :D).

realized i didn't need it when the T-Bred's came out, so i opted for high performance air (just a SK-7).

and extreme? i agree. but clockin my 1.6a to 2.8 required somethin extreme. was fun though, cept the whole pelt experience. hate having to deal with those things.

gee, that PCI fan was ghetto as shit indeed! But I'm truly amazed!!! Well, we don't need a PCI fan these days, though. And wouldn't those open slots a major source of the dust? It can probably be solved by adding a filter or someting, but then again, PCI fan isn't really that a big deal...

in any case, it got the job done, didn't it? :D

It would seem that it did a sufficient job of cooling your system. A most logical choice of cooling methods indeed.

I had an exact same question here are my system tempratures

CPU Idle: 36 C
Gaming: 43 C

MB Idle: 35 C
Gaming: 41 C

I opened the case and now MB and CPU are both at 40-41 C during work and 35 C during Idle and this is just the beginning of summers.. will more fans help.. also here is my pcmark score

CPU: 4398, MEM: 4247, HDD: 917

is it good? isnt the HDD score too low..

also I just won an nforce 2 mobo from MSI for 76 bucks plus 15 for shipping.. anyone interested in that.. looks pretty cool.. also has built in TV support etc.. tell me abt it oks.. here is the link to the auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31496&item=3411841585

so answer these question ya all when u can oks

im in shitty ass army oven housing so i just leave my case open with a box fan stickin in it

That's odd...are you sure those temps are accurate? seems like the mobo is a bit hot, I mean, for it to be only 2 degrees away from your cpu...

well, during the summer, i guess the ambient temp can go up to almost the cpu temp. to be honest, i never liked MSI. they've always had problems with stability for me.

and the HD score is just fine. unless you've got an array runnin, you're HD score is quite high (you've got a WD SE? a 120GXP?).

why are u so worried about those kinda temps? u don't overclock or tweak, so anythin under 60 will keep your rig runnin at peak performance.

I love my msi board. Hasn't had any problems for me. I do wish I could select a multiplier above 12.5 tho. >_<

some of my games are still showing some graphical glitches and i was wondering if this is temperature related. because i had just ask for a replacement for my video card

aphremen

as long as those temps are accurate, there is no way that overheating would be the cause of it. Bad drivers, proggies in the bg, misc other stuff could be the cause though. Or the video card may/probably is overheating. I would check to see if the heatsink is attached. Back in the day, I had problems with artifacts in some games, when I took a look at my video card, turned out the heat sink fell off.

I have an intel 845 GBV mobo i won the MSI one at an auction and was wondering if that is a cool mobo or not.. anyways.. i guess i should be fine w/ these temp right? anyway my system is quite cool now.. as i have a 18cm fan blowing on it and i opened the case and now it works better.. and yeah i was noticing too that my mobo and cpu temp are way too close.. but oh well what the heck.. anyways.. havent had any issues as yet.. also.. which amd processor should i get for my mid june upgrade.. as for hdd i have a seagate barracuda.. its in my sig.. so read that..

is it advisable to put a TTAKE on top of a geforce4 ti4200 fan

definitely the copper cooler is great for around 16 bucks and it comes with mem heatsinks too.. i would consider it if only i had a gf4 bah!
